Minneapolis MSA is actually the second smallest with all 5 teams.

So are we counting only whether a team exists in the league and the area having more than one in a league is irrelevant?

If so Bay Area might be largest with teams in three but I honestly have no idea if San Jose is included in Bay Area stats. I would think it is not included.

My best guesses:

1) What is the largest city with teams in all 5 major leagues (this should be really easy)? What is the smallest?

NY largest, Denver smallest

2) What is the largest city with teams in 4 of the 5 major leagues? What is the smallest?

Miami largest, Atlanta smallest

3) What is the largest city with teams in only 3 major leagues? What is the smallest?

Tampa Bay largest, Kansas City smallest

4) What is the largest city with teams in only 2 major leagues? What is the smallest?

Indianapolis largest, Cincinnati smallest

5) What is the largest city with only 1 team in a major league? What is the smallest?

San Antonio largest, Green Bay smallest

Yes, that was actually the one with the fewest close guesses so far, and you got it. Just edges out St Louis, Charlotte, and Portland

Yes. I would have never known this without looking it up. I thought it was a top 20 city for sure.

KC was the second smallest and then Pittsburgh.

9/10 through the second page. Biggest 3 team city is all that's left

5: NYC, Denver
4: Houston, Detroit
3: ______, Cleveland
2: Baltimore, Buffalo
1: San Diego or SA, Green Bay

Fwiw, I would never have gotten either 3 team city, Baltimore, or San Diego.

I figured it was the case given Cleveland's dramatically shrinking population. It was once much bigger and more suitable for multiple teams. Think of how the Indians' attendance has dropped off since the '90s even though they've had great teams in recent years. Kind of sad.

I’m guessing Bay Area (SF) thinking San Jose is not part of the Bay Area metro officially

Assuming the A’s/Raiders don’t count as extra teams

But in that case the Niners play in San Jose metro technically so I dunno

New York
By metro population... I'm guessing... Boston as the smallest?

I don't know enough about the MLS franchises... I know NYC, Chicago, Boston, Phoenix, Denver, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Los Angeles, Philly, Washington DC, DFW, Miami metro areas all have the other 4.

2) What is the largest city with teams in 4 of the 5 major leagues? What is the smallest?

I'd guess Houston as the largest with no NHL. Maybe Minneapolis/St. Paul as the smallest if they don't have MLS?

3) What is the largest city with teams in only 3 major leagues? What is the smallest?

I'm guessing Seattle is the largest... they have NFL, MLB, MLS. Maybe Cleveland is the smallest with 3?

4) What is the largest city with teams in only 2 major leagues? What is the smallest?

Largest I'd guess Columbus, but it might be Portland. Smallest I'd guess Buffalo.

Largest San Antonio, smallest Green Bay.

Some close ones

Phoenix is the second smallest 4, Seattle is the second biggest 3, Tampa is the third biggest 3, Kansas City is the second smallest 3.

And there we go.

San Franisco-Oakland is considered one area. San Jose is considered a separate area.

So technically SF-Oak has the Niners, Warriors, and Giants (along with the A's). San Jose then has the Earthquakes and the Sharks.

If we get away from that frickery, then Seattle is the biggest 3 team city as many of you guessed. That would have been my guess as well.
