Some Trivia About City Size and Sports Teams
Posted on 4/19/18 at 9:01 am

Here are the rules
1) The 5 major leagues are NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS
2) Since there are several ways to measure the size of cities, I am using metropolitan statistical area as the measuring stick.
3) We are only counting American cities for the purpose of this game. Sorry, Toronto.
So here are the questions
1) What is the largest city with teams in all 5 major leagues (this should be really easy)? What is the smallest?
2) What is the largest city with teams in 4 of the 5 major leagues? What is the smallest?
3) What is the largest city with teams in only 3 major leagues? What is the smallest?
4) What is the largest city with teams in only 2 major leagues? What is the smallest?
5) What is the largest city with only 1 team in a major league? What is the smallest?
The winner gets either a million dollars or the personal satisfaction of answering some trivia correctly on an anonymous message board. To be determined at a later date...

San Antonio
Green Bay
San Antonio
Green Bay

Isn't NYC the biggest for all of those?
Edit: if you're like me and can't read good?
1 is nyc and Denver?

Columbus? Vegas? Not sure if Vegas has an MLS team. I’m thinking Columbus does, along with hockey..
Give me Columbus for 2
Give me Vegas for 1

California is going to make this shite super confusing with regards to where teams really play vs their names.

I think Seattle is the largest city with only 2.
And Buffalo is smallest with 2.
Edit: Wait MLS is included? frick this.

Green bay has a population of 100k
San Antonio has a population of 1.5 million.
I think you're correct.

Believe this is Houston

This is probably Seattle actually
I have no idea on the smallest ones. I have no concept on how big the metro areas of places like Cleveland/St Louis/Cincy/Pittsburgh are relative to each other
I dunno the rest

Correct
And Okie Tiger is correct about Green Bay being the smallest. 157th largest metro area in the US. San Antonio is the smallest with 1 team according to one measure of city size, but not through metro area.

Buffalo is the smallest with 2. New Orleans was the runner up.
And yes, Houston is the largest with 4 teams. They are the 5th largest metro area in the US.
Well done, guys. 4/10 out of the way.

Also the poster who said California complicates everything is completely correct.

Pretty sure #2's largest city would be Houston since NHL is the only missing major sport. Smallest with 4 of 5...Phoenix? Their soccer team is trying to get into MLS though.

San Diego is largest with one right?

Yes!
San Antonio using municipal, and San Diego with MSA.
So far the 5's are done: NYC and Denver
The 4's are done: Houston and Detroit
The 1's: San Diego or San Antonio, Green Bay
And the smallest 2: Buffalo
We need the 3's and the biggest 2
The biggest 3 is by far the most confusing. Seattle is very close to being the right answer though. And Tampa right after it.
