Maybe there is no bipartisan way forward.

Wouldn't have mattered which of the 16 or so Republican candidates won. They would all be painted as racist, homophobic, religious zealots, etc. Lets remember before Trump ran for President he was a Democrat who was getting Civil Rights awards now that he won he is a racist etc.

Their SOP is to demonize the opposition regardless of their qualities because the can’t control them. Once they are broken, the left will later use them as examples of a “good” Republican.
W was about as good as they were going to get and they went batshit on him because Gore couldn’t close the deal in Florida. W did a bunch of outreach with top Dems like Teddy Kennedy to get legislation through and they still fricked him.
16 years of this shite and the GOP’s insistence of still playing by Marquess of Queensbury rules is why we got Trump. And now that we have Trump, they are all trying to make it impossible to get another one like him.
