Lowe’s except when I need to rent tools I go to Home Depot but that is rare.

Framing a lot, roofing, doing millwork job, or doing a large Sheetrock job I try to use a local supply house or lumber yard for free delivery, prices are a lot better, door and window orders come in quicker less issues, and most of the time they have the product in stock.
For little ins and outs depends on who is closer where I can get in and out.

Whichever is closer to where you are.

In Auburn they are right across the street from each other. Which one I stop at normally depends on which way I am coming from. Lumber is normally HH though and they tend to have better deals on power tools. What normally happens is I will stop at one for 3 items, and they only have 2 of the 3. I decide not to wait in the checkout line and go across the street where they have my missing item but only 1 of the other two items. I but the two items there and drive back across the street to get the remaining item.

As someone mentioned earlier, Home Depot is best for power tools.
In my area, Home Depot is better than Lowe’s, with lower prices too.
Also, for some reason, there’s a ton of hot Hispanic girls working at my local Home Depot.

I go to both. I use HD for work a lot because we have an account there. I usually use Lowes for home because it's closer to my house and typically less crowded.
IMO, they're the exact same minus the color scheme. Prices are similar, inventory is similar, staff is similar.

Hd for lumber if it’s a small job.
The people working at Lowe’s in Houma are certifiably retarded. I buy stuff from there and resell it sometimes. They can not grasp the concept of tax exemption. I am there for at least an hour every time. Also there stock is usually off.

HD but only because it is closer. The one I go to also has the best wood selection. My dad is weird in that he only goes to Lowe's. Even in my hometown, where the HD is like 3 minutes away, he will make a 20 minute trip out to the Lowe's to pick up one item that he needs. I get it if you're doing a project and want to look around and buy a lot at once, go where you like. But if you need a pack of deck screws, why waste 30 minutes on the road just to buy the same box of screws you can get at either place.

The 2 Lowes stores in Lafayette are horrible at inventory control. Their website inventory and bin locations are almost always incorrect. Plus their online ordering sucks donkey dick.
Home Depot has them beat for online transactions. HD also emails receipts (if you select that option). Comes in clutch when doing big projects and having many receipts

I've got a Stine less than 5 mins from my house so normally I start there.
But if I had to choose it would be HD mainly b/c i use Ryobi and Ridgid tools.

I use Milwaukee cordless so again HD has the edge there

They're both the same distance from my house, so usually whichever one has a promo on something I need. I also have a credit card that has a 5% cash back at HD this quarter, so that'll probably sway my decision until July. If I need something super fast and price isn't going to be a big factor, then there's an Ace much closer to me

HD has a Walmart vibe - Lowe's is more Target-y
Because HD is geared more towards contractors and DIY's
Lowes is set up more to appeal to the feminine side of the home improvement scale.

Less trashy people go to Target than Wal Mart.

I go to Lowes 99% of the time because its only about 3 miles away from my house. The HD is just too far away but based on the few times I've gone, Lowes seems to be bigger into the plants and outdoors and HD seems to have a larger variety of Home improvement stuff. But Lowes has never not have what I needed for repairs and such.
