BRPD Officers Threatening to quit

I'll be curious to see if some do, or if it more of a leverage to get more pay by threatening to leave. Article is from the Police Chief's talk at a Together BR event.

This. I always have the hardest time when I see how different situations play out. When I see white criminals killed by police, race is irrelevant of officer to me, I am thankful that scum was removed from the community.
Reverse the role, no matter how much of a criminal the black guy may be, it is automatically portrayed as racial or that we have an out of control police hunting the black man problem.

“Let’s just be honest, some of those divisions are on racial lines, and we are divided not only on this issue. The truth is if Alton Sterling was white and the officers were white, we probably wouldn’t even be down here talking about it,” he said.

I know BRPD cops who are already just fed up with the lack of support from the current administration.

The city of St. George will have plenty of employment opportunities for them.

They will make an excellent first class for the St George PD.

I know some that have retired early months ago and are loving it. Sucks for the youngin's that don't have that option.

Rightfully so.
Seems like decent raises to the force should amend some things, but I'm sure most feel like they can't fully do their job regardless.

The investigative division would get an instant upgrade, and we know how to check mics.

That's because the white folks would be celebrating the death of a thug criminal, not mourning the loss of a benevolent angel who was only selling pirated CDs and brandishing a firearm with a pharmacy in his system to support his children.

Paul told the group about a new program in the works where officers would conduct a risk assessment of a household if police have been called more than a set number within a defined period of time. Paul said officers likely would work hand-in-hand with pastors and clergymen on projects like this.

“We really think that programs like that and the community policing is starting to help our officers have a different understanding,” Paul said. “Remember, we are changing perceptions: How you see the police officers and also how our police officers see the communities that we serve.”
He just doesn't get it
Baton Rouge has enough programs & committees & organizations
None of that crap is going to make a criminal stop breaking the law

The Sterling fiasco would be enough for me to not want to put my life on the line protecting and serving the people of BR.

That's extra duty where those guys and gals are paid very well. There's no way in Hell they'd give up that gig.

I'd say having the police called to your house once, maybe twice tops for a domestic dispute means that shite will probably never get any better at that house. So we should enforce prayer, not police to fix this?

Racism that cannot be cured

BINGO!
Send me to whatever class you want teaching me whatever you want....When a felon has a gun and I am called to the scene, all those "feel good classes" are out the window and I am acting in a manner that gets me back home to my loved ones at the end of my shift. I will take my chances with being judged by 12 rather than carried by 6.
Paul is a pawn for the Broome administration and current BRPD will continue to suffer as long as she is at the helm. This city will continue to spiral downward under this current circus.

WOW, Shocker.. Didn’t see that coming.
Hey BRPD and Mayor.... Good luck in attracting high caliber candidates for your police department. You’ve all but said that you do not have their back. Why would anyone in their right mind want to put their arse on the line for people like you?

Murphy Paul = Broome's puppet. She is controlling the strings and tells him what to say and what not to say

Damn, did the Chief of Police just admit to racial discrimination as the basis for firing an officer?
