The Zoosiana zoo in Brousard - absolutely pathetic

Not that I expected anything better than pathetic, but man oh man it was baaad.
My wife and I went to Avery Island for their Easter egg hunt for the little one and on the way back he wanted to stop. We were tired and just wanted to get back home but we figured since he had been so good we should reward him with saying “yes” to his request.
First off, it was cheap as shite to get in. All three of us cost $26 to get in . Not complaining, but we were both just like “hmm, this ought to be interesting”. Zoo in the middle of nowhere that costs so little? Let’s just say $26 was too much for what we got.
First exhibit was two lions, sleeping, with their lion testicles hanging out on full display. I thought it was funny, the wife smirked, but our three year old son thought it was the funniest shite he’d seen. The thing is these lions were being “held back” by a regular chain link fence only about 15’ tall with NO COVER! Tony the Tiger at the truck stop had a more secure set up.
All the exhibits were filthy and needed a good pressure washing. Cobwebs were everywhere - intertwined in the fencing around the animals, all along the walkways, and covering the under sides of every eve, overhang, and roof we walked under/near.
90% of the wood walkways, decks, seating areas, and bridges needed to be pressure washed or actually replaced due to rot.
A snake actually slithered across a walkway in front of us, stopping us in our tracks. Not completely sure if it was an escapee or just living in the area.
The bengal tiger needed to eat a burger it was so skinny and it actually LIFTED ITS LEG AND SPRAYED/PISSED ON A KID IN FRONT OF US!!! I’m not kidding! The kid of course screamed and cried and her parents were pissed.
Peacocks escaped and were walking around the whole play area for the kids. Workers were scrambling trying to get them back to where they belonged.
The grass hadn’t been cut in what looked like months, maybe a year, inside the exhibits.
It was maddening, funny, and quite sad at the same time. Our kid loved it because he doesn’t know any better but it was about what one would expect from a zoo in the middle of BFE.

Not really complaining as much as I was appalled at the conditions they allow their zoo to be in.

So cats have balls and piss. And peacocks can fly
I can’t do anything about the cobwebs

Why you didn't ride the train?

Honestly, I made the executive decision to not set foot on that train due to not wanting to die. If they take care of their train/train tracks like they take care of the rest of their facility, it’s a tragic accident waiting to happen.

I heard they are trying to change their name to Zoo of Louisiana.

So much contradiction. It was cheap. It was not worth it. It was terrible. My kid had a blast. Lol that you spent 10 minutes typing that scathing review.

I went a year ago and thought the same thing. That place must be hemorrhaging money.

Better than BREC zoo in Baton Rouge.
Did you think you were in San Diego?

Peacocks run around loose at Audubon Zoo too fwiw.
Lion nuts and tiger piss sounds pretty funny. It’s cool you can even get close enough to a tiger to be pissed on.

If you’re saying the zoo in Broussard isn’t world class, I’m wondering where the billions in funding went.

Seeing lion nuts, a tiger piss on a kid and a snake slither across the sidewalk seems like a good experience.

I would kill myself if i were as big a pussy as you are.

We went last weekend with our offspring. It wasn't bad. We actually (gasp) had a good time.
