At this point in every Austin thread, the same places have been beaten to death. Steiner ranch steakhouse on a Wednesday is the best rec in this entire thread fwiw

I feel like I offer a unique perspective.

I'm 22. Going with some really close family. We just prefer great food, not too particular on price as long as it's good/great. We are also impatient too, so I'm taking that into account.

Countless thanks to everyone who has responded

Terry Blacks for BBQ

Via 313, Homeslice, or Little Deli for pizza

Vespaio for Italian

Juliette on Barton Springs near S. Lamar has a nice outdoor bar and makes some great cocktails

Someone mentioned the smoked wings at Green Mesquite. I'm not a fan but would recommend the smoked wings down the street at Uncle Billy's. Stick the the wings(sauce on side) and beer though.

St. Elmo's brewery has some awesome beers.

Odd Duck has some pretty great food even though the menu may seem a little out there.

Ramen Tatsuya if you want some good ramen.

Elephant Room downtown for jazz.

Everyone loves Uchi but I still haven't been

Have you had Cover 3's brick chicken mac or Peche's duck mac? Those are my top 2.

Go the bar at Emmer and Rye at 5:30 for a couple of incredible small plates and great glass of wine.

if you want to waste your entire vacation standing in a line.

It's definitely good but it's not stand-in-line-on-the-outside-chance-that-you're-not-getting-fed-at-all good.

It's Austin. There are PLENTY of great BBQ places that won't run out of food before you're able to eat.

Well in all fairness the guy is cooking over 100 briskets a day and running out. That’s a testament to the cook. Not like he’s cooking half a dozen and slamming the window. He tries to accommodate.

I am a huge fan of Steiner Ranch Steakhouse's Lobster Mac & Cheese. Don't think most of the stuff there is worth the price, but the LM&C is legit

Geaux4tigers has a good list. I forgot about Terry Blacks. It is solid and there is not much of a line. I wasn't a fan of the original Black's in Lockhart but this one got it right.

Little Deli has some of the best pizza in Austin, and it's more of a joint that locals hang out at. It's a perfect spot this time of year when the weather is nice, because most of their seating is outside.

And to SWC, is it really worth the drive out to Steiner Ranch Steakhouse? I've never been but have never heard rave reviews either.

best for happy hour. the steaks are really good, but you would have to decide for yourself how it compares to 3 forks, eddie v's etc. probably not quite as good imo, but still serviceable. expect similar prices however.

cool back patio overlooking the lake with sometimes live music. good option for out west, similar view as oasis without the crap food.

that $10 prime rib quesadilla

I go quite often because I live in the area. IMO, I have never had a bad meal at Steiner Ranch. But with that said, I don't think the steaks are consistent enough. I've been there when I though the steaks were amazing and I've been there when I though the steaks were just ok. For the price, which is $40-50+ per steak, I'd like to have a great steak every time out. But the appetizers are solid and I mentioned the lobster Mac & cheese previously which I always order when I go because I think it's amazing. So the entire meal experience is often positive even for the times the steaks come out a little less than desired.

There is live music there every night on the outside pateo which has a great scenic view. On the weekends the dance floor is usually filled with Steiner Moms. But the atmosphere is good enough that most people will stick around for a drink or two after their meals for the music.

Cool. Good to know. I've passed the place several times but never thought to go there.

Didn't Franklin's burn down recently? I thought he was shut down until they rebuild or move?

Fire started in the smokehouse from an ember last August. Re-built what was needed and opened for business 3 months later in November 2017. Entire building did not burn down, just damage to select area

Any good restauants/bars for 15 guys on a bachelor party? Bangers has been mentioned to me a few times from various people. Think we are doing jacoby's one night and Bobs another

Jacoby's is a nice place, and pricey. Bangers may be an option and would be good because you can hit up all the other places near there after dinner.

I personally like Pelon's for Mexican food downtown, though they don't seem to get the best ratings.

Parkside has a really good happy hour (food and drink).

Lamberts is also a good option, but make sure you make reservations.

Otoko is definitely not to be missed. Buy your reservations ASAP via Tock. Arrive early and stay late for cocktails at Watertrade. Their Goma Fashioned is to die for. El Naranjo on Rainey St for Oaxacan cuisine. Some of the best molé I’ve tasted. Enjoy!

I second this. This was an awesome experience, expensive but so well done.
