Per Cody Worsham: "They don't want to (schedule) us. They probably didn't really want to play this one, to be honest with you." - Bob Marlin, Head Coach of ULL Basketball

Big game Bob is trying to divert attention away from himself for choking and missing the tournament again.

Ole Miss wished they didn't have to play them either after they beat ULL down to the tune of 94-76 earlier this season.
Ole Miss went on to finish 14th in the SEC. But hey, complain about how you have to travel to the 10th place SEC team now.

He was missing key players for that last game due to both sickness and injury. It's actually just unfortunate that they demolished their league throughout the year, then when it comes to a single elimination tourney they're not allowed into the NCAA tournament. Why even play throughout the season if it doesn't hold any weight?

It does hold weight, getting destroyed by the worst SEC team hurt them a lot.
They managed just 1 win vs. RPI Groups 1 and 2, that's really bad. They can only blame themselves for not beating a few better teams. Not like all mid-majors get left out if they dont win their conference tournament.

They lost 2 out of the last 3 games they played.
1 of those to a team that won 7 games all season.

It's brutal how the mean old NIT is making the Cajuns and their fans take that inhumane 60 mile road trip for a national postseason tournament game.

Give me a frickin break, man.

When you haven't lost to a team in over 70 years and during that stretch they recieved the death penalty from the NCAA, is there really any reason to schedule them?

Hey now, we're totally scared of playing a team that has made the NCAA Tournament once in the last 15 years*

agreed. Washington or USC would have been much more alluring than that rubber dog turd ULL

LSU won't schedule the Cajuns in basketball. It doesn't have anything to do with fear, it has everything to do with LSU doesn't gain anything by doing it. However, don't make idiotic comments like Bob Marlin is making that up.
LSU should win this game if Jakeenan Gant and Jonathan Stove are unable to play for the Cajuns like they were in the Sun Belt tournament.

I have watched UL at several of their home games. We will likely beat them, but it will not be easy. They are quick, but more importantly, they are physical inside, which has been our Achilles heel.

These guys are really pissed they have to travel to Baton rouge to lose a game.
Posted on 3/12/18 at 2:24 pm to ArcticFox
UL has been trying to schedule a home and home or even 1 game with them over the last few years, and LSU has declined.

Nothing to gain by playing those assholes. No need to do them any favors. They're obnoxious and they smell bad. Keep them away from Baton Rouge please and thanks

quote:Nothing unfortunate about it. ULL knew it needed to win the Sun Belt tournament to get into the NCAA field because its regular season schedule was just pitiful. Of its 25 wins against NCAA Division I teams, only five were against teams with winning records -- 5-4 overall. That win total only goes up to six if you include NAIA member Loyola-New Orleans.

LSU's schedule was simply much more difficult. LSU was 10-12 against teams with winning records including multiple wins over teams that made it into the NCAA tournament.
