not necessarily.

Didn't the government only buy back around 20,000 guns? They estimate there are almost 300,000 guns still out there.

its pretty much shown by statistic that the gun bans dont really lessen murder rates. Harsher penalties and being tougher on crime deter at a far greater rate. A gun in a victims home at least gives them the ability to fight back.

I mean yall are trying to poke fun at Australias gun ban, but this article kinda shows it is working These gangs would have caused far worse damage with guns........ ETA: I am not for banning guns here.
Gun violence in Australia has been proliferating.

There are numerous studies and charts on the matter
In the early 90's the USA started handing out harsher penalties for violent crimes and drugs, plus the enactment of the 3 strikes laws. The murder trend in the US has decreased far more than any of the countries who enacted gun bans in the 90's

Yeah I'd like to know more about it.
Comparing the US to Australia is plain silly though, imo. Even if you could, in practice, ban and confiscate all the guns, you can't do it here constitutionally.

Muslim and Asian gangs were bad in western Sydney in the early 2000's...I don't think the situation has improved much there.
