Had a buddy that lived on Alaska street back in the day. I know there are scarier streets by far, but the amount of times we’d be out front shootin the shite in the early mornings and see groups of people walking around in the distance up to NO good. Had cops run up to us in the daytime telling us there was in active shooter and to go inside and lock the doors (As half a dozen cop cars roll by).

Whatever streets are near tiger land. Drunk college kids are basically begging to be robbed.
I say that as a former drunk college kid who was lucky enough to never be robbed.

Believe it or not, Monroe St from Texas Ave to downtown has always been perilous in Alexandria

9th ward way back in the day, whitely better never walk around that area day or night.
Hell, even the white cops stayed out.
Or any of the projects back in the early 1970's.

Native Americans is one of the stupidest PC terms out there. It is like if martians took over earth and called it shitholia we would feel better to be called shitholians.

Pre Katrina I was in the lower 9th with a buddy of mine who was playing in a poker game at someone's house. First of all, it was late as hell and I remember that out of 5 street lights on the street, only 2 were actually working. I was maybe 21, if that. We were outside after the game hanging out with a bunch of dudes who were at the game and lived in the area. We could hear a gun battle in the distance that sounded like a war. The other baws didn't look nervous but my buddy and I exchanged a look that said "it's time to go" and GTFO of there real fast. As we were leaving the neighborhood we saw 4 or 5 dudes hauling arse and we assumed they were the ones responsible for the...uh..ruckus. At this point it's at least 2 am. My buddy just gassed it til that place was a memory.

I lost/had my wallet stolen in the quarter one night and had to walk back to my friends place from royal/st charles and canal all the way to the St Charles-MLK area at 3am, fricked up as a football bat. Well, I was fricked up when I started my walk...it was very sobering. It wasn’t necessarily the scariest experience of my life but I sure wouldn’t want to do it again.

True story. Good friend that worked for the phone company years ago had a work order to remove a phone service in one of the projects. He had to have a police escort to go it. When he got there, no cop, but what he saw was that the building was on fire. people were running around all crazy. He stopped a woman and asked WTF? She told him that her child was still in the building.
So, just getting out the marines, he charges in, grabs the kid and comes out. Kid was fine.
After that, every time he had to go in that area, the local people always escorted him in and watched over him.
