All you really have to do to see how big Columbus has gotten is take a walk down High St in Short North

San Angelo, Texas. Visited this town for three months in 1991.
To my surprise, this town had only 75,000 citizens in the Concho Valley of west Texas. The town looked old and was situated in the middle of nowhere. Hills surround the old town but banking and grocery shopping was a lot easier and convenient compared to Houston.

Going by “downtown size,” Phoenix is surprisingly small.
It's been one of the fastest growing cities for the last two decades and it's skyline is slightly more impressive than Baton Rouge's. Surprising really.

ew Orleans and Baton Rouge metro areas will eventually grow into each other.
Nope.
Who the frick wants to live in a cane field that sho
Actually, Yep but not along the I-10 corridor. The I-12 corridor is where it is going to happen....eventually. More land that is usable and if the state and politicians would get off their arses and stop with the "studies" and widen I 12 to at least 3 lanes both ways across the stretch, it would happen a lot faster than people think.
The population growth of St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and Livingston sort of bare this out
Someone has to go to the legislature and explain to them how a one lane cloverleaf on the junction of I-12 and I-55 hurts business and the area....not to mention how fricked up it is for tractor trailers
Same case could be made in Slidell on the junction with 59/10/12
I'm sure they will "study" it

Chicago downtown area with the high rises. Was smaller than I expected.

They need to improve US 190 as well.

Was going to post this, and Atlanta. Hard to imagine Memphis city proper is larger than both.
SWB may actually have more constituents under her reign of terror than the mayor of Atlanta. I think EBR and the city of Atlanta are nearly the same size.

It's funny how skylines develop. New Orleans has an amazing skyline for a city its size. Many cities much bigger have weak skylines.

Vegas is not at all what I expected.

Somewhat along those lines, both Pittsburgh and Cincinnati have awesome skylines for cities that aren't massive (top 15 or so) metro areas. Indianapolis' sucks. So does San Jose's. Philly's is nothing special for as large as the city and metro area are.

Agreed, but how long do you think they will study that idea? How many rich people in Covington will complain about the "increase in traffic"?

Tennessee has very "liberal" annexation laws. Memphis used to be much smaller and the Cordova (unincorporated area) much bigger along with Hickory Hill and then one day ...... property values be damned along with an increase in the crime rate
