Should’ve been playing shallow anyways with the winning run on second regardless. You give yourself a chance to throw the guy out on 2nd. Playing straight up doesn’t allow you to do this unless you were Vlad...

Nope. That was already a difficult play with Bonds going to his left away from where is throwing target was and having to throw across his body with very little forward momentum. Had he been playing shallower, the amount of time he would have saved "getting to the ball" would have beem more than offset by the angle toward the ball and the effect any forward momentum he would have had on the throw. Of course, none of that means Bonds wasn't a monumental prick.

Damn that was a laser of a throw by bonds
