Mainieri found out after the fact and after Cannizaro had lied to him about it that Cohen and Cannizaro had been negotiating AC being hired at Miss St weeks before it actually happened.
Something doesn't make sense about that since AC was publicly in the running for the Tulane job he didn't get. The only thing I can think would be that PM didn't want AC to go to a program like MSU so he had to compete with him not only on the field every year but recruiting also. It is not unheard of that people negotiate these kinds of jobs over weeks, so that doesn't make sense. Now about the lying part, that is something that the hatchet can be buried over, because it was about AC stepping up in the world to a better job, PM really can't hold a grudge about it if he does it is his fault.

Events have proven the Tulane AD correct.

Mainieri: "Andy, John Cohen is going to be giving you call to talk with you about the head coaching job at Miss St."
Cannizaro: "Really? That's news to me."
Mainieri: "So you don't know anything about this?"
Cannizaro: "No, coach."
A week later Mainieri finds out it was a done deal before Cohen even called Mainieri. Cannizaro lied.
I'm not sure that hatchet can be buried deep enough for Mainieri to trust AC again.

And then go ahead and write a six-figure check to her to save time
I know you have heard that old saying "you can pay me now or pay me more later"
She literally just cost the MSU baseball coach his job, look at all the negative press. If it happens again at UF, do you think the press won't crucify the AD at Florida for not letting her go? That might be the best money spent all year at UF. From my experience in what I have seen, if they have cheated once they have a strong propensity to cheat again.
I have been a CEO, I can tell you she would be gone. And in this day and age where nothing can really be swept under the rug it is even more prudent of him to figure out a way to get rid of her now!

If that is how it went, then obviously that isn't a great way to end the relationship on AC's part. But if they had a great working relationship, which from everything I know and I know him somewhat I grew up in Covington and went to St. Paul's, that he did have a great relationship with PM. That is a bridge that can be repaired over just that issue. Now if there were other issues there then it becomes more difficult.
But the facts are in black and white, look at the success LSU had with PM, AC & AD leading the Tigers. AC will probably want to come back and if PM is smart he will hire him back. AC will need to repair his reputation and LSU needs to improve their hitting. But your point is very valid, AC will need to do some serious arse kissing in order to come back if he wants to.

Yeah they parted on good terms... Other than the fact AC lied about the jobs he was interested in, didn't tell LSU right away when he was offered the State job, and then talked shite about PM and LSU to recruits.

Florida AD is Scott Stricklin who was the AD at Miss St before moving to Florida in 2016. Don't know the significance but it does make it more intriguing.

This is bullshite, surely. There can't be a federal law saying a worker can't have sex with a subordinate. It's a good policy, but not a law.

Stricklin was also the SID at Tulane. Mind. Blown.

We need to pray for that pregnant wife and those two little ones. Imagine what she is going through right now.

Re his pregnant wife, guess it is safe to assume that when he was fired, he lost his insurance coverage at Moo St. If so, his COBRA payments will be through the roof. For all those who claim to know him & are saying what a great guy he is, AC is on Tulane's Mount Rushmore of baseball players & Tulane did not hire him. Why? And wish Skip would come up with a new StarkVegas joke about this.

They are hurting. They made 900k last year. I don't feel sorry
