The state is going broke or maybe we're already there...and this clown of a Governor wants to call another Special Session that will costs taxpayers $60,000 per day.
I wish someone would kick this S.O.B. off of that Fiscal Cliff and he lands on his dumb arse.
You wanna start cutting costs? How about stopping the choice of school vouchers and fix the broken public schools. If you cannot fix 'em scuttle them and use all the money to send everyone to private schools. Wait, isn't Dumb-Bell's wife a school teacher? Maybe she's part of the problem with public schools because that's the message he is sending out when he sends failing kids to private schools- that the teachers at public schools can't get it done. Of course, we all know better. Public school teachers are Great!

You can sink all you want into public school education ... you can get the best teachers ... it will not matter so long as the student body is what it is.
At this point ... I am not sure that it can be fixed.
A lot of people like it broken as frick just the way it is.

Choice of schools is terrible. The school closest to you should be where your child goes. A lot of people work hard to move to a good area so their child can get a good education. All that gets ruined when they have to be bused across town and then other children across town take your child’s spot in the good school to meet a diversity quota.
We are definitely sending our kids to Catholic school.

Good plan, but it has the following flaws:
1) Many Catholic schools are not what they used to be.
We pulled ours out of a very old, established Catholic School here ... basically because the education was lacking, SJW has infiltrated parochial schools, and it became clear that our tuition was being raised solely to subsidize others in the name of diversity.
I am not paying for diversity ... I am paying for a solid education. Mind you ... unforced and earned diversity is just fine.
2) If you have a lot of kids (like we do) ... it becomes very difficult economically. So, I hope you make serious bank ... or only have 1-2 kids.

No, I realize he needs the legislature to get on board but the Governor need to LEAD. Has he offered any cost cutting suggestions? He's so hell-bent on getting re-elected he's afraid to piss any group off so he's leaving it up to the legislature and they get the blame or any fallout from what they do or not do. That isn't why. Its moreso that he was caught and NEVER owned up to it. When people make a mistake, especially someone in leadership, they need to own those mistakes. Vitter was also one of those family values, "im a Christian" candidate who cheated on his wife with a hooker. Those are some of the worst types of candidates.

He didn't run on "cutting costs". He wants a higher permanent tax revenue stream and got elected anyway. Seems silly to expect him to "lead" in the way you suggest.

But you have to start with getting better teachers who want to teach and have passion for it and enjoy it and actually know what the frick they are teaching. If you have a sad miserable teacher who doesnt inspire the kids then the kids will see this and care only as much as the teacher does. I think 85 percent of the kids can be inspired to do better no matter how shitty their home life is. Most kids want their teachers approval at a young age unless the teacher is shitty and is only there collecting a paycheck. Matter of fact teachers should only be allowed to do a few years then have to take off some time to become refreshed. They get burnt out quickly.

You have no idea what you're talking about, this was a payback to his supporters. None of this was done to actually "cut costs", it was a get out of jail card. It's the usual from a fraud lefty, don't give them all the money they want and they will release the criminals upon society to punish them.

The Louisiana state government is beyond repair. You would have to blow up the state constitution and somehow remove all the entrenched families with generations worth of political corruption to get anywhere. Good luck.
