Well I would expect this means Cousins is going to be here long term now. If Davis is showing this kind of love it makes me think he wants to be a Pel 4 Life.

How so?
Boogie will sign the 2+1 and both will be free agents the same year.

I can’t believe Cousins will take a short deal after the injury.

Well I think the 2+1 puts him at 10 years in the league which makes his max a higher % of the cap. If he looks like anything like the Boogie from before and doesn't get any other long term injuries, he'll get a Max offer from someone. So he gets enough guaranteed money for now and gives himself a chance to cash in big time in his next free agency. Hopefully by then Boogie an AD develop their chemistry and desire to win, and we clear up cap space that we can sign another big contract to go with AD, Boogie, and Jrue. All unlikely since we're the Pelicans and love shooting an already hurting franchise in the foot for short term gain.

he's a UFA now...this will happen before he ever steps on a court again
it may be the biggest gamble in recent NBA history

AD posted a wonderful -18 in the box score for the game last night. easily the worst on his team.
He really did not look good at all last night. He looked like Asik trying to catch passes, considering he whiffed on 3 of them. Looked extremely lazy on defense, even though everyone else was actually playing defense, and you could tell his basic defensive instincts of just switching and rotating aren't at the level of the other all stars.
Maybe he just partied too hard and didn't care about the game even though everyone else did, but i wasn't too happy about what i saw from him last night.
Yeah i know it was just an all star game.

The thing I was happy to see is much of his time this weekend seemed to be aimed at doing charity stuff. If anything will motivate him to not feel sorry for himself and try harder, it's seeing people who have more serious IRL struggles to deal with.

I was referring to the time after he would sign a 2+1. Definitely not the biggest gamble in NBA history when you consider the ridiculous contract Wes Matthews got coming of an ACL tear I believe. And he was never even all that close to being an all star much less a perennial one like Boogie. So no, any deal given to Boogie is not the biggest gamble. If he's 80% of what he was he's probably still worth near max

Regardless, it could have been worse. He could have been -21 like our buddy on the Rockets.

Well i'll say that Harden did look worse than AD. Hardens game requires him to get in the lane and draw fouls. No one wants him doing that in an all star game, so i respect him for not playing his game last night. His game works great, and i hate it. All he did was shoot long threes all night.
