Everyone i know who went to UTSA (between 2000-08) enjoyed it. I’m sure it’s even better a decade later. My last hs game was in the convocation center

How about sending her to a private university in the North East?
If she didn’t get into Texas, she likely isn’t getting into even a lower tier Ivy.

UofH is fine if you live in Houston and commute. Campus life in the dorms there sucks and commuting from Katy to UofH is horrific. I want her to have an on campus life and enjoy school
The UofH campus is ok but the area around campus hasn’t been gentrified yet so it is pretty dicey

I was top 12% graduating from a Texas HS in 2004, and it wasn’t good enough for UT. I went to a junior college, and after two years I was admitted to LSU and received enough scholarship money to wipe out any out of state fees. Subtle brag...I also graduated with zero student loans.
Anywho, UT and A&M fill up with the book smart kids. I’ve seen many of them end up back at home going to commuter schools (UTSA, Texas A&M-CC, UTRGV, etc). This also means places like Texas Tech, Texas State, North Texas, Houston, and so forth, are becoming solid institutions as well.
The overcrowding is a major issue in Texas. It’s no wonder some fantastic kids reap the rewards of attending big universities in the Southeast.

Honest question: where do you see your daughter going at this point?
I’m only asking because you seemed so shocked in the OP that she was rejected by her supposed first choice.

Didn't you hear Texas & Texas A&M are on par with Ivy league schools academically.

4.2 should not be too 17%. What kind of fricking grade inflation is going on over there?

UTSA, UT-A and UT-D have spent a ton on dorms and campus buildings in the last five years. UTSA is really nice now. Our neighbor did CAP at UTSA and she is at UT-Austin and loves it
UT-A is 41,000 students! UT-D is 17,000 kids. UTSA is 31,000 kids.

Who actually believes that?
As someone surrounded by MIT and Harvard grads...no. I must have missed that one.

All I got from that was that your kid's schools are either easy as frick or they use 'AP' courses to inflate GPAs and the college's aren't taking the bait. If your son truly earned a 4.2, he would've done better than a 30 on the act.

I wasn’t shocked by Texas, even though she applied to their public relations school which isn’t one of their tougher entries
I was shocked at not getting into TAMU at all and getting deferred to Blinn
I see her going to LSU and breezing through undergrad or going to UTSA and graduating from Texas-Austin

If it makes you feel any better, a monkey versed in sign language could do the same.
Sincerely,
An LSU Graduate who was offered a full ride to Texas A&M and declined
