Hell I didn’t mean it that way.

Admittedly, I was harsh. My fault. I hope you accept my apology.
But it sounds like your daughter would do well at any university if she was raised right. I’m sorry she didn’t get into a State school in Texas.
What a horribly condescending post holy crap

Admissions at that level are all 4.3+ GPA, 34+ ACT
The girl going to Columbia is one of my daughters best friends. We have watched the process up close. The Rice girl is also a close friend
The line about backstory, interview and alumni sponsorship is not mine, it was from the senior counselor
In Houston if you have the academic criteria for The Elite Schools the counselor will match you to local alumni and they will interview you. Then they will choose to sponsor you, or not
There are paid advisors in Houston that will manage the Elite Admissions process for you as well for a stiff fee
This thread isn’t supposed to be about Ivy schools, it is about Texas universities

Maybe the DIPAs have hit me harder than I realized because I wasn’t meaning to be condescending at all.

Honest question, can you explain this 4.3+ gpa thing? I don’t know how it works. A 4.0 was the best you could do when I was in high school.

I already told you she is accepted into CAP and Blinn Team, which is basically deferred admission if you go do your year at UTSA or Blinn
She also got Honors at UTD, Houston
She is in at Azusa Pacific, SMU and LSU
Waiting on word from Tulane
I hope we raised her right, she seems like a good person to me but I am biased

I’m sure she’s a great kid I didn’t mean to imply otherwise earlier.
The only reason I had an ivy comment is because apparently UT and A&M were compared to The Ivy League earlier. And that’s just wrong.
I wish your daughter the best wherever she ends up.

This isn’t really what any of us want, but need to take what we are given around here.

AP classes are 5.0
The highest cumulative GPA they can get currently based on the available APs is 4.69
Indians and Asian kids here routinely take as few 4.0 classes they can, then defer their PEs to online or second semester senior year so it doesn’t bring down their GPA
some kids here get waivers for shite like karate to get PE credit without taking the 4.0 class at the school
It is unbelievable how they can game the system

I tried to pitch Texas State but she loves Austin. My white princess wants to be an SJW so bad
I would be TSU all day if it were me. It is the FSU of Texas

Both of my kids went to catholic school in Lafayette all the way through junior high. They would have gone to ESA or STM if we had not moved
The math in their junior high background hurt them in HS. They just weren’t prepared. Both took calculus as seniors but they both took the ACT multiple times before calculus. That hurt them on the test. Math was their only sub 30 scores, which is why they were both 30/31 ACT cumulative. They both decided to stop at 30/31 and not take the test any more and just start the application process
If she does elect to go CAP at UTSA she has to commmit to the spot by Feb 16. It is a brutal process for a 17 yr old to know what you want to major in right off the bat.
To apply to Texas and TAMU you apply directly to the College. For Texas she applied to Public relations, for TAMU she applied to Biology (with her sights on Med/PA School)

Love those SJW college kids then when they graduate college get a real job and see what the government takes out of their paychecks they become republicans real quick. Not all but most catch on real quick

Should reminder her she can always move here after school. Hard to explain to 18yo I’m sure but it really isn’t the traditional college social experience.
Hell she may run in to a drunk frick in a nascar jacket smoking menthol cigarettes at what is considered a hip place that all her peoples are going to.

My brother LSU/FSU is getting his doctorate at FSU
He works at FSU in administration while getting his doctorate in public policy
He was a huge SJW at LSU, he was active in SGA and all of that
Now we call him the unicorn, he is gay, an academic and a hard line conservative
shite changes when you start paying taxes man

Sounds about right. My sister had two classmates commit suicide because of the process. One for not getting in to Texas, one for not being able to transfer in to Texas after a year at UTSA or something.

I love San Marcos
Really considering moving there with mrs supa
She is an accountant, i work O&G out of the house
I hope my daughter goes to UTSA, would be nice to have her close. My son in Dallas is hard on us, four hours away
If she goes to LSU she will be around tons of family, my wife is from BTR
We are very blessed

Hardest part is watching these lazy arse do nothings get 10,000 dollar tax returns, free cable, vouchers for private school, subsidized housing while we pay all the fricking bills and struggle to put our kids through college and earn a living. I don't care if you are gay, black, Transgender, etc. as long a you contribute you are good in my book.

So sad about these kids today and suicide I just don't get it and will leave it at that.

My daughter started college last month she is just doing junior college and then will transfer to one of the universities out here. I went that route. My first route to the University of Florida and the materials engineering program was foiled after my ex got pregnant with my first child.
