Neither. The 4th post in this thread was this.

Academically Texas and Texas aTm are on par with Ivy League schools. Great schools.

Yeah, that’s just a fun thing people from Texas say that no one actually believes.

Like “this is the best State to live in” or “we aren’t racist”

The math part of the ACT got both of them. Calculus part of the Math ACT is tough

Easy as frick HS? Nope. Not even close. Their school is too new to be ranked but Seven Lakes HS right by here is #11 in Texas HS

Kids here use AP to manipulate the GPA system. I live in Cinco Ranch, our demographic are heavy upper middle class white, Indians and Asians. In my son’s class the highest ranked white kid was a girl at #20

I'm guessing your kids have no minority background.

Don’t some Ivy League schools (Harvard) only award A & B grades. Like the first rated students get a+ and they deduct a few points each place in rank?

I feel like most of those Ivy League standards aren’t set so high to get the smartest in, but to keep poor people out

Cajun doesn’t qualify as a minority

FTR my son started UTD with 33 hours of AP credit, so it evens out somewhat. He basically tested out of a year of college

This class is the third graduating class from their school and there is a white girl in the Top Ten. Two white kids in the top 25. Graduation is like a UN assembly

The academics aren't vastly superior. The students are though.

Yes. Ivy league doesn't give people Cs or D's. Probably even let's students retake classes without it effecting transcripts.

It’s a little uncomfortable how fixated you are on race. Did some Indian child dare have a higher gpa than your white princess?

There were two Ivy kids in their class last year and three this year
Harvard and Princeton last year, seven of the top ten went to Texas
Harvard, Yale and Columbia this year, one Rice kid

Ivy admissions are all about backstory, interview and alumni sponsorship

The real cutthroat admissions here is the Service Academies with the political endorsement game.

Affirmative action may be officially dead but it's not really dead.

I guarantee your kids would not only get in to those schools, but have mega scholarships if they were non-whites.

Its just how things are. I'm sure there are lots of minority students that deserve everything they get, but there's definitely a negative side to selecting based on race, or even possibly immigration status.

Which is helped immensely if you're a non-white.

Probably why Harvard and Yale have the highest perecentage of students on a university scholarship compared to the rest of the country.

Fixated on race? I am just telling you all how it is here

The diversity here for my kids school is a selling point of the area. We love it. My kids inner circle of friends are Indians, Asians and African kids with the usual white kids sprinkled in
My little white princess? Why are you trying to insult me?

It makes me sad that people put their heads on their pillows at night and truly believe this.

Of course connections help - welcome to the real world.

But if you’re qualified and stand out above the rest, you’re in. If you aren’t accepted, you’re not at the level that you thought you were.

Since most Texas schools are public, they have to allocate space for the auto qualify percent from shite schools in McAllen, Harlingen, etc

Strong growth in the Mexican surgeon field recently

Admittedly, I was harsh. My fault. I hope you accept my apology.

But it sounds like your daughter would do well at any university if she was raised right. I’m sorry she didn’t get into a State school in Texas.
