How has O proved to be an improvement over Miles?

Serious question for the people who are still supporting O.

Now that signing day is over, we have seen he isn't even an improvement over Miles in recruiting.

Can an O supporter point to any aspect of the LSU Football program where O is a significant upgrade over Miles? Just curious as to why people still think he is the right man for the job.

You would put O on the same level as Miles in terms of overall quality of the Program?

Yes! He hired the best coordinators in the country...wait...

Well, at least he'll stay out of their way...ummm...

But 10 wins in his first year is pretty good...nevermind...

He can close with a top-10 class on NSD though...shite...

At the time Miles left, yes. There's a reason he was fired. Orgeron will probably join him soon

I mean the offense did improve but that really didn’t have anything to do with O and had more to do with just not having Les

That's actually fair. I see the negatives, however, I am in the camp that says he (and every other coach, honestly) should be allowed more time before we call for his job. Or at least make the seat super hot.

It's healthy to be critical and question things, but to say he's a failure at this current point isn't really a fact. Yet. It could be. Or maybe the team plays surprisingly well and his vision has come to fruition.

Not trolling or blindly supporting him, but I am looking at this next year as a pretty tell-tale sign as to what we could expect consistently.

I don’t think it’s that people are saying he’s the man for the job. I see it more as wanting to support LSU no matter what. Yes, you can say that it’s “supporting mediocrity”, but i don’t see it that way. I will be the first to say that I’m not an O fan and I don’t know if he can get the job done but I’m not gonna throw my hands up and refuse to go to games and support the team like I’ve always have. I also understand that people say the only reason he was hired is to win now, but I still believe in giving him this year to truly see what he can do with the recruits that he wanted. Everyone is freaking out because we didn’t sign a top 10 class but he recruited the main thing he wanted as in the O and D lines. Let’s see how beefing up the lines help, and if it don’t, then you have every right in the world to want him fired after seeing his true body of work.

I agree with this, but he hasn't exactly done much to give me hope that he will be the one to bring the program back to being a NC level team. I still can't really think of one aspect where he has improved the program. However, I do think he should get next year to prove himself, if I am being objective and fair. If he has a worse record than this year though he needs to go.

Has at least attempted an offensive scheme that is conducive to today’s college football instead of HB Dives against loaded boxes. Has kept 2 teams motivated after bama loses instead of mailing it in for the year as Miles did with loses to Arkansas.

Any other brain busters

9-4? 15th ranked recruiting class with no CBs for what's supposed to be DBU? HELL NO!

It's good that he is attempting it, but it seems like he doesn't really know what kind of offense he wants. At the end of the day his W-L record isn't better than Miles and the quality of teams we played weren't all that great. Next year will be more telling on this topic.

I don't necessarily disagree with you that he is a good motivator, but the teams we played after Bama were Arkansas, Tennessee, and A&M. All teams who fired their HC this year.

I upvoted for your rationality.

9-4 in O's first official season obviously isn't a firable offense. However, there's plenty of evidence, beyond that record, to support the criticism and pessimism to this point.

Despite the beliefs of a few CheeriOs, we all want and hope the best for LSU. The last few months haven't offered much promise though.

I felt like if Les would ever embrace the fact that his offense was archaic and needed an update he could have coached for another 10 years. Him sticking to 1970s football was his undoing. With O i don't feel like there is one thing that would help turn him around. He is just in over his head.

He is not in ANY way shape or form an upgrade. . Starting to look like a significant downgrade.

Yes O is a big upgrade!

Big improvement in Recruiting Offensive and Defensive Lineman. The new Offensive Line Coach forte is developing Offensive Tackles. He says building an Offense Starts at the Offensive Tackles. In 2019 they need to followup on Recruiting OL and DL. If you going to beat teams you have to do it with these types of players.

Aranda is the best! Defense will be awesome!

Ensminger has been coaching a long time and has been a OC like 5 times. He was one of the first OC's to use the Spread. He played QB for 4 years and do not sell him short.
