Your name and your children are the only things of value that will outlive you. Take care of both.

Always dance with your wife at a wedding, because if you don’t she’ll remember the man who did.

If you’re early, you’re on time. If you’re on time, you’re late.

This was my advice to my children when they grumbled about ball practice, but it really applies to life in general - - you have to get through the hard part to get to the fun part.

Can't never could do nothing.
There's a first time for everything.
Don't judge a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes.
Never put off till tomorrow, what you can do today.
The right thing to do is rarely the easy thing to do.
If you take care of your tools, they will take care of you.
Don't let your past get in the way of your future.

When I was a kid seat belts weren’t taken as seriously as they are today. I thought it was the cool thing to not wear my seatbelt. One day I jumped in the truck with my dad and didn’t put on my seatbelt. He noticed and said, “son the day you are peeling your face out of that windshield I hope you learn your lesson” I’ve never gone a day without wearing a seatbelt since then. Not life changing but I never forgot it.

An old black man from whom I rented a trailer. I’m whaling on the hitch trying to make it work. He walks up:

“I was in the Marines, son. Went all over the world. Learned something. This ain’t the rest of the world. This is America. Folks like things easy. If it’s hard, you’re doing it wrong.”

My Dad: “Do the best you can with what you’ve got.”

Stop seeking validation of others, if you have to feel like one of the crowd, you have no redeemable qualities.

Motivation may or may not lead to action. Action will always lead to motivation.

A few others.

- No one deserves to be uncomfortable in their own home. If it's warm in your house, put it at a temperature that you are comfortable with. Don't settle for being "too warm" to save a few dollars.

- If you don't toot your own horn, no one else will do it for you. Don't be scared to tell others what you have achieved, when you are in a situation where it would benefit you, if they know.

- If you shake it more than three times after you piss, you are playing with it.

Lessons cost money, good ones cost lots.

Don’t eat the yellow snow.
