I try to watch the pelicans and celtics, but i get bored after a while. i feel left out bc my 2 friends are obsessed with it, but I just cant get interested. half the time they dont play defense, they dont try.

I will watch football, soccer, (maybe hockey or fighting), but I think watching films or tv show will be a better use of time.

We live in a free country. You watch whatever you enjoy and pleases you! Why are you worried about what others think whether or not you watch basketball? I don't watch baseball at all and I don't give a damn who likes it or not. This thread doesn't make any damn sense whatsoever!!

I follow college basketball and I like to watch my alma mater, but I don't watch every single one of their games.

I do watch the conference tournaments and almost the entire NCAA tournament because it's a great event.

The NBA sucks and I never watch it.

PS - I miss the old Big East tourneys, I used to go every year

If you go to an NHL game in person it will be your second favorite sport behind football.

Saw the Vegas Knights back in december and it blew every nba or college basketball game I’ve been to away. Going see the Stars next month

Why even post this?

Not everyone likes everything. If you’d rather watch a movie you certainly don’t need THIS boards aporoval to do such.

This is the least amount of bball I've watched in a while. Just can't get excited about it. Mainly because I'm a Bulls fan, but also because the regular season just doesn't mean much.

I'll watch the playoffs religiously though

I had a similar conversation with my wife while trying to watch Cleveland and Golden State the other day. There’s ZERO defense in the NBA. The officials don’t call traveling, lane violations,....I could go on. Meanwhile college officials call WAY too much. Hell, one dude called carrying on LSU against Vandy. I haven’t seen carrying called since about 1998. I know I’ll get hammered for this but I believe if they didn’t keep stats anymore, basketball would be more enjoyable. 90% of the players are playing for self glorification, higher draft position or better contracts. Do away with stats and they’d all play more like a team and the game would be more enjoyable to watch. Downvote away.

College basketball sucks and is unwatchable.

I don’t watch the NBA aside from Pelicans games. I watch them because they play here and are ‘our’ team. If they moved, I wouldn’t watch the NBA at all.

There’s just something about the sport of basketball. It’s too simple and I have lost interest as I got older.

This is an odd thread, but I will respond anyway.

I like watching the NBA, but admittedly these days I mainly just enjoy watching good teams play other good teams. I do enjoy watching the Warriors play though, and can generally watch them no matter who they play. But if it's a random Tuesday night and the Bulls are playing the Magic, or something like that, I have no desire to see that. But I can watch the Cavs/Celtics/Warriors/Rockets/Spurs/etc. play each other all day long. I wish I could get into watching the Pelicans more than I do though.

I do usually watch a lot of playoffs though.

This is completely exaggerated. The offensive abilities of these players and the defensive rules makes defense really difficult. So many plays where you just have to tip your cap to the offensive player for beating a great defense.

Pretty much true. There is some bad defense at times in the NBA but it's usually scheme and rotations as opposed to individuals. The offensive game of NBA players is miles ahead of the NCAA. During a pregame warmup, I once saw an NBA bench player make 21 three-pointers in a row. Obviously it's different at game speed but the guys have such refined offensive games that it's at times impossible to defense - see Steph Curry.
