re: You guys realize the word "shithole" isn't what people are upset about, right?

I don't think that's the clear insinuation at all. I think the insinuation is that people from underdeveloped countries probably don't have marketable skills that will benefit America. The result is that these people are more likely to become a drag on American resources. So Trump is looking out for America more than he is looking out for immigrants from other countries. Is that so wrong?
Oh really?

Perhaps most surprising is that, by many measures, the most-educated immigrant group in the U.S. isn't East Asians. It’s Africans.
quote:
According to Census data, more than 43 percent of African immigrants hold a bachelor’s degree or higher -- slightly more than immigrants from East Asia. Nigerian immigrants are especially educated, with almost two-thirds holding college degrees -- a significantly higher percentage even than Chinese or South Korean immigrants. African immigrants are also very likely to hold advanced degrees, many of which are earned at U.S. universities. By many measures, African immigrants are as far ahead of American whites in the educational achievement as whites are ahead of African-Americans.
Huh, weird

So what makes those countries shitholes? Is it the air? The water? The predatory behavior of faux charities such as the Clinton Foundation? Or could it be that they are full of shitty people?
It probably has a lot to do with the fact that the rest of the world has pillaged these "shitholes" for the last few centuries.

43% of immigrants to the U.S. have a bachelor's degree or higher
Are you talking about legal immigration or illegal immigration? Are you intentionally conflating the two? Because if you are, that would be dishonest.

Ok.
What does coming from a shite hole country have anything to do with this though?

Great post. I can't comprehend why so many posters here are lumping in African immigrants with the usual illegal Mexican immigrant conversation.
It's completely, completely different.
I'm usually 100% with this group when we're collectively bashing SJW idiots, but so many posters are wrong on this.

Nobody is discussing illegal immigration here.

Why would you assume he was thinking of race instead of education and skill sets? It's because you are racist as frick and project your racism. Classic dem tactic. Accuse others of doing what you have already done.
You're doing a lot of projecting there while accusing me of it.

Really! So they come over with plenty of money and a homestead in place. Man, what the hell!

What makes you so sure that potential immigrants from shitholes would be leeches? They have probably worked harder all their lives for what they have than any of us have.

We don't need large numbers of immigrants, period.
You couldn't be more wrong. Immigration is one of our core economic advantages. We need immigrants to make up for a declining birth rate and a rising median age.

The upsetting thing is that Trump very clearly insinuated that people who live in shithole countries are less worthy of becoming Americans than people from other places.
If you don't view immigration solely through the lense of charity, this statement is 100% accurate.

There is nothing wrong with that.
When the NFL draft comes around in a few months lets see how many division III walk-ons they draft.
