Serious Question: in these types of situations, the promotion of someone already on staff, have you ever heard of the players not approving?

Probably not, but my opinion is based upon the assumption that the players approved and were happy about the move, rather than silent and questioning the move. The argument being made is it should be a good thing and not turned into a negative that the players like the move.
The immediate responses to the post were approval doesn't mean it was a good hire, and that the players shouldn't control the hiring. Neither of these things were asserted. Only that it is good that the players liked the move instead of questioned the competency of the coach to help them achieve the goals I believe they want.

I don't know how I've been bitchy in this thread.

But what I meant was that your post about fan opinions was not my logic. Saying that the players reaction shouldn't carry weight into the hiring decision and saying the fans opinion should determine the hire are 2 completely individual statements. I made the former, and you created the latter to argue against.

Reread the OP. This is literally what the thread was about from the start.

Fair enough. I was defending my post and arguments, not that foolish line of thinking

All I am saying is that player approval is a given in these circumstances.

I've never heard of players running down an inside hire, ever.

But, I guess it is a good thing that LSU didn't become the first.

I'm not buying the players want him because they like him angle.

Players want to win. To me, that would come first and everything else is a distant second place.
If the players are excited about Ensminger I would first think that they think he's the best chance to win.

Hell I know when I played HS football our Head Coach was forced into retirement. We were a perennial playoff team often ranked very high while I was there. We all were mad and didnt like what was happening to him.

Many players wanted one of the assistants to take over.

Instead they hired someone from the college ranks that was the father of an incoming frosh. I barely follow my old team anymore but they play now for state titles almost yearly. Including the first year he coached. If I had to guess they won at least 6 titles since that change.

Players dont like change and do not see past their playing career at any level.

FWIW our top WR recruit, Terrace Marshall loves the Ensminger hire and knew about it BEFORE he committed

Good God

So there was no search and the whole coaching is a charade on the university.

All I was saying is that players liking the offensive coordinator (NOT CHOOSING THE OC) should hold more weight than the fans hating it - frick, Marshall knew it was going to be him BEFORE he signed, and still signed.. that’s enough for me to know that the players are OK with it.. a 5 Star wouldn’t throw away his opportunity if he thought the offense would completely tank

Tbh, I didn’t even read the OP - I just assumed this was a nega vs posi battle and came out swinging lol

Yea I got mad, so what? I’m just sick of the negativity, that’s all

Neither should yours. In what way are rantards any more qualified than players.

Folks were upset that Canada might have said he would not be there. It is now good that SE was said to be taking over before it happened. I am glad the team will play for this man. I am sure they all have a great relationship of coach and player. This hiring is a mess and you know it. I am not being negative just realistic about what transpired here.

I'll give you $500 if you can show me where I've made this claim in this thread.

I don’t disagree with most of what you said, I’m just trying to figure out wtf your comment was supposed to mean bc it had nothing to do with what I said

You just took one of the rant’s complaints and tried to fit a square peg into a round hole

No it shouldnt

Its far more important that a player respects their coach than liking their coach.

The fans will be here long after many of the football players run off to the NFL. They absolutely should have a voice and use it.

Should non season ticket holder LSU alumni have more say than non alumni season ticket holders?

What about Ex player's? Do they have a voice?

How does this whole who has a say ranking work for you?
