LSU fans will fully support automatic conference champion tie-ins until an 8-4 Pac 12 champ or a 2-loss G5 team get an automatic bid and leave them on the outside looking in.
LOL, we’re a long way from worrying about this, boss.

Alabama was technically SEC West Co-champions.
But they got rewarded with a bye for not being first. With a physical game like football that's a terrible system.
Imagine if the Panthers, Falcons, Titans, and Bills got byes this year while the Steelers, Pats, Bikes, and Eagles played this past weekend.

Why?
Under your guidelines, the best team in football would have been left out.

For being SEC west co-champs? No they wont.
Yes they do. We got one for 2012. Georgia has one for 92 that I know of because Ray Goff had it on his desk.
Why is an Ole Miss fan talking about this anyhow?

Sounds like the conference championship games need to be abolished..

That would be perfectly acceptable. If not I wonder how long until a school sits a game out because it can only hurt their chance at getting in the playoff.

I used to full support no 2 loss teams in the championship or playoffs.
I still do, but I used to, too.

It’s perfect the way it is right now. The four best teams got in. Deal with it.

All it will come to is teams refusing to play in conference championship games.
Low IQ response. You can’t turn down playing in a CCG. It’s the rules of each conference that you have to play in it if you make it. Turning it down isn’t allowed.
This is stupid. All conferences aren’t equal. Like someone else said, let a 11-1 LSU get left out by an 8-4 Conference Champion and see his really unfair that would be and I bet you are singing a different tune.

while Bama was rewarded for losing to Auburn with an automatic bye to play Georgia for all the marbles after a month of rest.
There was a game in between that

2015 Ohio State was better than the 2015 Alabama team that beat the same Michigan State team tOSU lost to 38-0? Alabama and Clemson were clearly the two best teams at the end of the 2015 season after both winning their semi finals games in blowouts. Conversely, the playoff committee got it right when they jumped Ohio State up to #4 in the first college football playoff. tOSU proved they were the best team that year.
Alabama played Sparty in perfect conditions. Ohio State played Sparty in the worst weather conditions I’ve ever experienced at a football game. A game in which Completing a pass was nearly imposssible because of the conditions. And frick Tim Beck and his game plan which precluded giving the best running back in college football that year the ball.

There needs to be some kind of qualifying criteria regarding conferences. They all play eight games or they all play nine game. No FCS teams or everyone plays an FCS team. The eight game conference schedule is a tremendous advantage for the ACC and SEC.

Your conference champion heuristic is clearly flawed.

Just like a player will never sit out because of the draft. Oh wait.

Would you say the basketball tournament is chosen fairly?

Weather conditions are part of football...

Come on man, were sitting here trying to hire an OC no one wants by a HC no one wanted. We've got quite a ways to go before we need to worry about being on the outside looking in.

Its not an oversight.
3 teams same conf could really be better than conf winners.
I used to like when Ncaa hoops was 16 teams. Conf champs and a few catholic inds.
It meant the nit had acc reg season champ half the time.
The mvc runnerup was real deal too.
Made that acc tourney serious.
