Auburn was penalized by having the privilege of representing the west? It sucks that Bama got the conference championship off and benefited from it, but using them as tbe primary case against the current format is absurd.

It hasn’t worked out twice for tOSU in 15 they were the best team but got left out.
Hocutt has screwed this thing up so bad. He needs to be tarred and feathered.

Auburn was ranked #2 before the championship game, you're telling me if they don't play another game they would have dropped in the rankings? Bama didn't play and they moved up. How is that fair?

They were top team much like Bama all year
Well go look at the draft class of that team. They had most players and most first rounders from a single team. Sorry you are using selective memory

Can't do that with the way college football is set up. But yeah the optics of it look very bad. Didnt win the division, let alone the conference..... but national champs.
Also, what would have happened had Auburn beat LSU?
They would have gone into the CCG at 11-1 after beating Bama, played an extra game and potentially get left out.

How exactly does that make them the best team again? Clemson was undefeated, so they were worthy of being in. Bama was a one loss SEC champ, they deserved to be in. OU was a one loss conference champ, they deserved to be in. And Michigan State beat tOSU heads up and beat the #4 team in the conference championship game. How would you send tOSU in over them?

Why though? The playoff worked. The best team won. I hate Alabama as much as anyone else, but I don't see the problem.
The problem is this: 1-loss UGA had to play an additional game against a top 4 team Auburn for the right to enter the playoff. Bama went straight into the playoff without the risk of that additional game. That's not an equitable path to the playoff but I don't know a great way to avoid it either.
