So would it be more ideal if there was a 6 team field with the best 4 CC winners and two wild cards (at large bids?)
From there, a G5 school can still get in, and a 11-1 nonconference champion can also get in if they’re the best of the rest.

Just opening the door for Bama and tOSU to get in more.

There are 5 power conferences. Any changes need to include the 5 winners. Go to an 8 team field. If Alabama and OSU are locks as a result, so be it. If they win in that format, it's well earned. The path to get in would be very clear - win your conference and you're in. Don't win, and it's subjective for an at large bid.

If they are among the 6 best, why should I care? It would also help an 11-1 LSU squad with no conference championship and any other P5 team in the nation with singular blemishes and hiccups in otherwise great seasons.

That would be similar to the NFL.

Then why do you care now? Bama was one of the 4 best this year regardless of losing the only game that kept them out of the SEC Championship game.

Big name schools would benefit from an expanded field more than no names. You're just deluding yourself thinking otherwise.

An 8 team field is a lot of games to play. The Bama’s and the Ohio state’s with the most depth would benefit while everyone else will see their performance suffer. The conferences might have to drop the championship game to make that system work.

I don’t. I didnt have any problems with Bama making it in the CFP this year.

It’s because the G5 schools and the no name schools with less than quality depth would all of a sudden be facing motivated Bama and Clemson squads once they get in. The silly national championship claims can maybe cease then.

This is the scenario where you’re likely to get a 3 or 4 or worse team if someone pull an upset in the CCG. Top 4 conference champs keeps drama in regular season and CCG without watering things down.

But then we are not looking for a champion we are looking for best tem. I thought the whole purpose of this charade was to find the National Champion not find out who the best team was. If teams, admins, and fans know they have to win to get in, there is no legitimate complaining. They knew what they had to do to get in.

In an 8 team playoff, sure the 5 conference champs and three highest wildcards. But in a 4 team playoff I want some room for at least one wildcard. You just don't like that Bama duplicated 2011 and won the national championship without winning the conference, but the SEC is a very difficult conference.
