For the playoff.

100% support only conference champions in the playoff.

Call it the saban rule or bama rule or whatever. There has to be some sort of benefit for winning your conference or at least being in the conference championship.

Call it the ND rule as well. They way they get to get to play by a different set of rules is BS.

How about we start slow. Division champs, then see how it plays out.

Yes, make them join a conference if they want to play.

LSU fans are so butthurt over Saban. It's hilarious.

It will go to 8 teams eventually imo. 5 major conf champs and 3 at large. What that will do is allow 3 teams like bama this year getting in without risking another loss in a conference championship game against almost assuredly a top 10 or top 5 team. That is not fair to the conference champs but it's coming. Maybe 6 is the best # of playoff teams and 1 and 2 get a bye. Yes, #6 will back in without playing conf champ game likely, but they'll have to play an extra game. No matter what, someone is getting fricked.

Not butthurt over Saban, he is just exploiting the oversight. It's a loophole that needs to be closed.

I am leaning towards this as well. This setup would have allowed UCF a shot.

We should definitely make it top 8 teams. Alabama will make it every year guaranteed then.

Why though? The playoff worked. The best team won. I hate Alabama as much as anyone else, but I don't see the problem.

Alabama was technically SEC West Co-champions.

LSU fans will fully support automatic conference champion tie-ins until an 8-4 Pac 12 champ or a 2-loss G5 team get an automatic bid and leave them on the outside looking in.

Because one loss teams shouldn’t be considered for the CFP?

Because conference championship games have become worthless. Why play a conference championship game and potentially lose and then be eliminated from playoff(auburn) while a team that sits at home (bama) and gets another week of rest and no chance for injuries that you beat gets to just be let in to the playoff by jumping everyone that lost a championship game. They shouldn't have been there. They didn't earn it.

Well we know south Carolina fans don't care either way because they'll never be in that situation.

I would have rather given the spot to UCF.

I'm not celebrating being co-champs, just stating a fact. Im not advocating putting it on a banner, but the SEC will give us a trophy for it.

Sure they did. They beat everyone on their schedule besides a top 10 opponent in the road. Every other team is playing by the same rules. Anyone else could have been in the position Alabama found themselves in. We made the playoffs fair and square according to the rules we all agreed to play by.

Once there is a CFP championship with only conference champions eligible, the OOC games would be rendered worthless.
I’d rather our starters not even play those games as a matter of fact.
