Starting Jan. 1, Californians’ lives will be governed by hundreds of new laws including new controls on concealed weapons, unprecedented state protections for those in the U.S. illegally, an increase in the minimum wage, legal sales of recreational marijuana and even a new state dinosaur.

A landlord can face civil penalties for threatening to report a renter to federal immigration authorities.

It now takes a warrant from a judge for federal agents to come to someone’s workplace on an immigration raid, and employers can be fined for not giving workers a 72-hour notice that those agents will be inspecting employee records. It now takes a warrant from a judge for federal agents to come to someone’s workplace on an immigration raid, and employers can be fined for not giving workers a 72-hour notice that those agents will be inspecting employee records.

State agencies that provide help to juveniles and the developmentally disabled no longer have to report immigration violations to the federal government.

Local law enforcement officials across California have new, strict limits on how much they can help federal immigration authorities — a law that pushes back against President Trump’s policies on illegal immigration.

Californians will pay a new $75 fee to refinance a mortgage and make other real estate transactions, money to be spent on providing more low-income housing in the state.
quote:
Californians with HIV can no longer be charged with a felony for exposing a partner to the disease, a distinction it used to have from all other communicable diseases.

Schools in low-income communities must provide free tampons and other sanitary products to students in grades six through 12.

California schools can no longer deny a lunch to a child whose parents haven’t paid their meal fees.
quote:
New parents at small businesses of at least 20 employees will be able to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave to care for the child, and won’t lose their health coverage while away.

When you apply for a new job in California, you can no longer be asked, “How much did you make at your last job?”
quote:
Beginning in September, Californians can choose a gender-neutral option on their birth certificate for those who are transgender, intersex or don’t identify as male or female. That change will be allowed on a driver’s license in 2019.

How the hell can you be neither? You liberals are mentally ill.
Also, I look forward to the impending court battles between the fed and California on federal immigration laws.
We should let California secede and ship all of our libs there before we do. Make America Normal Again!

What’s enough money to not stop someone from refinancing and only being a minor annoyance?

^^^^ All this shite right here is why I'm planning to leave this god-forsaken place.
The only thing I agree with is not denying lunch to a kid whose parent hasn't paid.

So I can face civil penalties for threatening to report? Does this mean that there are no such civil penalties if I just report them without threatening to do it?

more like money to spent on some super sweet cushy position in the state government to "manage" all this
they sure like to spend a frick ton of money, especially on shite that has an ROI of $0.00. Just how broke is CA?

California is over $400 billion in debt. Hopefully they feel REALLY GOOD about themselves, because the drain on resources all of those damn illegals will put on them is going to butcher that state.

California...constantly inventing new ways out-prog themselves.

California has never enforced immigration laws and has a pretty damn good economic reason.
Feds don't even bother.
The Salad Bowl of America needs the migrant Ag pickers to put lettuce on your table.

Few thoughts:
Solution: Don't threaten; just do it (no offense to Nike).
Umm, that's not how that works. Typically, raids don't involve notice. Also, federal agents don't need a state warrant to do their jobs; they tend to have FEDERAL authority to perform their actions.
Now I guess owners who call in the feds or work with them can be in trouble, but it's not like they can't get around it with an "anonymous" tip.
Then why will they ever pay it? I'm guessing there has to be some wiggle room (i.e. the lunches are bologna sandwiches only or some other cost-cutting measure).
This isn't a judgement call on the students or their parents; just an observation on human behavior and the lack of forward thinking by government.

Is it legal for California to put special requirements on federal authorities enforcing federal law?
Methinks not.

You also have to have a background check every time you want to buy ammo. I assume the standard FFL fees apply.

frick California.
I hope it pisses them off and they make anonymous calls to ICE.
Stealing from the working class to give to the lazy and illegals.
Liberals are spreading HIV and AIDS.
Too much stupid to comment on.
frick Cali regressives.

I agree with this. Most states (including Most of La) have this already.
It’s not the kids fault their parents are frick ups. Don’t punish the kid.
I also believe in 10 years all public school lunch will be free
