Gilbert has produced top 20 offenses everywhere he’s been
Posted on 1/7/18 at 2:00 pm to Bayoufightingtiger

2012/13 - Coached Jimmy Garoppolo at Eastern Illinois who was drafted in the 2nd round. Currently starting for the 49ers. In 2013 had two 1000 yard rushers and a QB who threw for 5000 yards and 50 TDs.

Someone explain why they like Gilbert? Try not to waste too much time googling the positives?
1. Simple playbook
2. Utilizes both Run game and pass game
3. Maximizes WR talent and speed
4. Has mentored both pro-style (E. Illinois/Tulsa)and dual threat QBs (Texas/USF)
6. Has elevated offenses at each stop in his first year
7. Has Texas connections
8. Gets along with Charlie Strong who is known to be strong-willed, old-school.

The answer to LSU’s offensive woes has been on staff this whole time! Right.

Having a local coach is great
Agree and disagree. It's good for getting the common fan base behind the team ("hey, look! We hired one of our own!).
It's bad because that's the overwhelming "common" fan base that supports the hire without in depth knowledge ("yeeee boi, we hired dis cha coach dat know how ta makes da mean roux and pilot a airboat, iiiii-eeeeeee!").
When a coach has a local cult following, it makes that coach all the harder to fire. If Ensminger gets the nod, the only way to rectify this abyss we're heading in to is to burn this motherfricker down as soon as we lose to West Virginia in the Meineke Car Care Bowl next year. Clean house from the AD down, and start over.

And Tom Herman sent him packing

Herman was always going to bring in his guys to implement his system. Strong thought enough of him to bring him to USF with him. You're just trying to twist things to fit your narrative, and you're failing miserably.

Because Herman has his own system, ever thought of that?

I guess Herman was sure he could do better with his own staff. Plus Herman calls many of the plays.
Unfortunately they went from 16th under Gilbert to 65th in total offense under his guy.

And proceeded to score less points, gain fewer first downs, had less yards per play and almost 100YPG less compared to Gilbert's 2016 offense. Your point?

Ensminger is more qualified than Gilbert
In what? Getting fired for being a poor OC?

Gilbert is not as good as you think
His offensive statistics he has put up at literally every job he has had disagree with you.

That dude is not even in the same league as Ensminger when it comes to recruiting too.
Ok? Nobody is saying get rid of him. He is a very valuable part of the staff. That doesn't mean he should get a promotion.

Go after a guy like a Kiffin if you really want to be successful.
If that was an option it would have happened about a year ago. He wants to be a head coach and he is currently a head coach. He isn't leaving unless it's to a bigger school.

Stats lie. Look at scoring efficiency. Texas went bowling this year. Texas has improved. I can't believe you can't see that. Always having to throw from being behind increases your chances for total yardage. If he was good, then he would of been retained. Herman brought in a guy he never worked with before. Stop assuming.

What doesn't lie are facts. Steve Ensminger is not one of the very best offensive coordinators in college football. This is not debatable.

You sir are a fool. Herman runs much more of a zone read screen and wanted a complete change of culture. He fired everyone at Texas.
This Gilbert guy has appeared to have real success everywhere he went in both scoring and yards. I’d love to see what he could do with the horses we have in our stable.
