if the browns were anyone other then the browns, they would trade the #1 and #4 picks to get 2 lower 1st round picks and 2 more 2nd round picks and possibly even a couple of 3rds from a team in desperate need.
Y'all do realize the Browns have done that pretty much every year right?

I legitimately wouldn't be opposed to the Browns taking a QB at 1 and at 4 (or 5, wherever that early 2nd pick is).

Their first overall pick will be Josh Allen, QB - Wyoming.

Nah, he's going to slide to the Patriots, who will let him sit and learn under Brady his last 2ish+ years.

Bc Barley isn't even the best RB in the draft this year.... much less worthy of a top 10 pick.
Who is?

While you're right that mathematically every quarterback can't be a bust this would cause more harm than good because you're effectively telling them both that you don't trust them enough to hand them the keys to the franchise.

A huge part of being a franchise QB is being able to handle adversity and wanting to be the guy. The guy who is gonna cry about not being handed everything, is likely not the one you want

don't forget the one you choose will be better faster bc he had to compete for the job...

They're trading the first pick to the Jags for Bortles. That's why

I would take Baker Douchefield 100/100 over Darnold. Another overhyped USC guy that is going to be a turnover machine*.
*Neither one should be taken #1 overall. Just Douchefield ahead of Darnold.

Barkley is probably the best player in the draft and they have another pick at 4. I doubt he last until the fourth pick, so why not just take him first overall?
They need a lot of things but RB isn't high on that list by comparison. Duke Johnson is a solid overall RB (very good at catching passes out of the backfield) and Crowell is good in spurts.

I don't think Kizer is the long term answer.
I don't either, but one of two things is occurring:
1) The Cleveland browns literally whiff on every QB draft pick
or
2) The Cleveland browns ruin every QB draft pick
In either case, the Cleveland Browns are pretty much wasting a pick by choosing a QB.
I'd rather have Kizer with a stud offensive line than Rosen, Darnold, or anyone else behind a shite line.

They should if they have two top 5 picks.
But that other pick needs to be a QB.

because his career may be over before they put together a complete offensive line?

Cleveland outrushed their opponents by ~150 yards on ~80 fewer carries. They also had >1 average yards per carry than their opponents. That's huge. Barkley is not even a need.
thats the thing, everyone is talking about shelf life being short, thats not the real issue in my opinion.
the real issue is a better RB might get you .2 yards per carry more than the guy you have, whereas improving other areas could make a much bigger difference
i would like to see a Value Over Replacement stat for NFL RBs compared to linemen
