I Guess I'm Just a Wuss -- M&P 9 2.0 Compact

I took delivery of an M&P 2.0 Compact 9 this morning (ordered from Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore). I shot one box of ammo thru it, and immediately ordered some Talon Grips.
The "skateboard tape" texture on the M&P grip is waaay too rough. I can't imagine shooting 200-300 rounds during a range session, much less taking a class where you might shoot 1000 rounds. Hopefully the rubber grips will solve that problem.
FWIW it seemed like the gun had a lot more muzzle flip than a G19. But that may be because I was experimenting with different ways to hold the gun without scraping all the skin off my hands.
Once I get the Talon Grips on it I'll run a few hundred rounds thru it.
TL;DR ..... OP is a wuss who can't handle a little friction from a 9mm.

You should shoot a longbow with bare fingers. It would toughen up your vag.

I've been saying that ever since I held one in a store. Didn't need to shoot it to know that it wouldn't be fun. Especially to carry

I too think the texturing is super aggressive and imagine it would rip through my waist while carrying it.
Talon grips sounds like a good solution. I did the same for my Kahr CM9 that would beat the crap out of my palm at the range. Rubber talon grips completely solved the issue.

Wondering how you like it other than the grips... I have zeroed in on the M&P M2.0 as my next purchase. Any problems? Trigger? SOS has it for $379

My preliminary impression is that it has more muzzle flip than a Glock 19 (the gun that it is apparently intended to compete/compare with). I presume this is due what appears to be a slightly higher bore axis on the M&P (although I haven't measured it). Or maybe it's simply due to the shape of the grip being different from (thinner than) the Glock 19 that I'm accustomed to.
Once I get the Talon Grips on it I'll shoot it a bit more. So far it's just a toy - nothing that would lead me to "start over" with a frame size and trigger that are different from what I already carry (i.e. no role for it).
My 9mm Shield, on the other hand has a role. It's one of two pistols (the other is the G43) that I am comfortable carrying as a BUG.

Agree to disagree. I put 300 down range with mine today and love the grip texturing. I, personally, shoot it much better than my prior G19. It's my primary carry weapon.

I took some 600bgrit sandpaper and hit my Shield 45 a couple of times on the backb strap where it was rubbing my palm raw. Didn't take much but just rubbing the sharp high points off the grip made a world of difference.

I just got one the other day and love the grip texture. It's similar to a stippled grip, and that was one of the main reasons I bought the gun. I will say the take down tool thing is a little cheap feeling, but other than that I like the gun a lot. And that's coming from a Glock fanboy.

good God this X infinity. I've shot over 500 rounds through my 2.0 and haven't had the first issue. Factory everything and I couldn't be happier. To each his own, but of all the shite to complain about. Sheeze.

Just bought the CZ P-10C today. Awesome aesthetics and ergonomics. Haven't shot it yet. I will say the slid release and mag release are super tight but I'd imagine they will loosen up after a few hundred rounds.

If you think those are stiff, try loading a brand new Shield magazine to full capacity. You may get permanent nerve damage in your thumb but it'll eventually loosen up...
