And no I'm not talking about just this game, but about officiating as a whole this year. Between god awful games and the NFL still not being able to figure out what a goddamn catch is, this season has been pretty awful for the NFL officiating wise.

No wonder the ratings are ranking

I was told that there wasn’t an issue with the officiating two weeks ago.

Honest question, did you think the officiating was unfair two weeks ago in Atlanta?

ETA: I have no problem, as a Saints fan admitting, that the NFL probably used today as a "make up" game for the Saints to even things out from two weeks ago.

I don't know how you fix it. The game is just too fast for officials. It's a major concern for the game.

yet you saw "no problem at all" with the thursday game rigged to help the falcons win, but now suddenly you see there is a problem that needs to be addressed

the NFL rigs the games in favor of certain teams to set up drama and create interest in other games that would otherwise not be important, its clear as day and blatantly obvious to everyone.

there is no "officiating problem" that needs fixing. the refs "can" do a great job of fairly officiating games if they want to. the league tells the refs which teams to help and that "can" usually tip the scales enough to make them win. that is the problem that needs fixing, they just need to stop rigging the games.

the NFL is the new WWF so get used to it, you know its rigged but you just need to try to enjoy it while pretending it isnt.

No, not in the fans eyes.

1. Fans bitch when there is a flag every other play.
2. Refs start letting them play, calling less penalties.
3. Fans bitch about every ticky tack no-call, disecting every play on their HD TV.

I think most Saints fans agree that today's game wasn't evenly called. Good luck finding many Atlanta fans who would admit that 2 weeks ago.

I think you start by allowing certain penalties to be reviewable (or non calls).

I also think their should be a crew with access to all of the instant replays talking with the on field refs as the game goes on.

It is a billion dollar industry. There should be 15 guys watching the game telling the refs what to call. No excuse for anything less

Yep, notice how he hasn't responded to my question.

And, what's funny, is that after the two Saints and Falcons games this season, both teams were penalized a total of 14 times. (11-4 in favor of ATL two weeks ago, 10-3 in favor of NO today).

I think most fans can accept a game that is called fairly on both sides, whether that be ticky tack or nothing. Where it really becomes annoying is one side getting called for things and the other side ignored.

Jesus fricking Christ the first saints falcons game was an abomination too can we move the frick on. The refs were awful in the first game!!!! How much more clear can i make it.

I think this topic has relevance outside of the dumpster fire saints falcons bs. So many games have been impacted by refs incompetence

I disagree. As long as games are called evenly, home or away and across the league, fans would be happy.
But you have this perception that one team gets all the calls (Patriots) and a big mismatch in penalties for the home and away teams (N.O. and ATL). Call it down the middle, have clear and easily understandable rules on PI, catch/no catch and targeting. If the NFL gives us that, I would be happy

It wasn’t evenly called. But at the same time it wasn’t that bad. It was probably your average bad officiated game. Statistically speaking, though, the Saints/Falcons game from 2 weeks ago was historically lopsided.

I’m not the one that refuses to address the topic and keeps bringing up that game. You wanted a falcons fan to admit the first game was bad. Here i am!!! Anything else??
