Watching both of them run against the saints. Two Louisiana boys. Curious to know if we recruited either one of these guys, or we just did not get them?

Forte was very lightly recruited, listed as a 2 star fullback. McGuire was a mid 3 star prospect but only had local offers, no LSU interest.

Didn’t recruit either one. It was surprising that we didn’t recruit Forte. He was a really good player in high school.

McGuire was a late qualifier. Schools thought he was graduating a year after he actually did.

Forte was pretty good high schooler, never got much hype though (2-star) maybe because slidell ran the spread way before everyone else did.

According to 247, mcguire carried 223 times for 2,603 yards, an 11.8 average and 31 touchdowns as a senior. Surprised we didnt offer him. Guess they assumed fournette was coming for sure

Forte ran 10.68 in high school as well, so I guess Saban only made recruiting mistakes at LSU? In 2003 LSU signed Broussard, Vincent, and Barrington Edwards and in 2004 Jacob Hester, yet Forte turned out better as a pro than all of them.

Pretty sure the college coaches job is to win college games not recruit guys that 10 years later are better pros

Forte just wasn't highly rated, McGuire had guys like guice, Fournette, williams all looking like LSU his jr and Sr year.

Forte was a big miss imo. Sure we did well with what we had, but I watched this guy outrun small, slim quicksters on the track. He looked like a runaway dozer with camaro speed. Can't take them all every class.

Another guy I thought would turn out was Ryan Tott who followed Forte at Slidell High. Dude was a load with speed, just don't think he was interested in school. By the way his cousin is pretty well known this year, Eddie Smith junior who will most certainly sign with TCU based on dad's Facebook updates.

No shite.

Jacob Hester, Justin Vincent and Barrington Edwards played a COMBINED 115 games for LSU. Their combined stats were 3,970 yds rushing, 48 TD's and 91 receptions for 714 yards and 5 TD's.

In 43 games for Tulane, Matt Forte alone amassed 4,265 yds rushing, 39 TD's and had 103 receptions for 985 yards and 5 TD's.

I'm pretty sure Matt Forte could have helped Nick Saban win games at LSU.

Elijah could have helped too

McGuire rushed for 4301 yards and 42 touchdowns and caught 130 passes for 1394 yards and 10 touchdowns as a 4 year starter for the Ragin Cajuns.

Wait a minute...are you guys pissed because this staff is going after that three star guy instead of the hyped four or five star guy?

Imagine the melt at the time if LSU passed on Guice for McGuire or Broussard for Forte.

You can’t have it both ways.

Saban's staff recruited Forte as a DB but he wanted to play RB so he signed elsewhere.

You will people down vote anything. Is asking a question about two Louisiana boys unacceptable?
