I really hated it. The plot was a series of one frick up after the other from the “heroes”. Several including Poe and Finn should be tried for treason and Luke Skywalker did nothing impressive and died for nothing. So sad!

frick.

I’m so conflicted.

Star Wars has always been a Skywalker saga. It’s basically not anymore.

Or they are playing possum on Rey’s true lineage to save the reveal for the next movie.

Either way, Luke Skywalker should’ve been the one to bring balance to the force. I had really hoped they were going to explore the concept of the Unifying Force. Instead we get Luke, the Jedi that defeated the two strongest Sith ever, pussying out and then becoming one with the Force.

Nothing that happened in this movie mattered. Nothing advanced the story. All the buildup, Rey’s force vision, ObiWans voice, her seemingly unwieldy command of the force, she’s gotta be a Skywalker, right? Nope. Random chick because basically medichlorians.

frick me.

Love the story line, hate the way they portrayed it. Felt like they were going for the cheesy laughs and sentiment shite too much.

I had high hopes after E7 and R1, but that was disappointing. R1 has been better then both E7 and E8.

All of the build up and mystery from the last movie was just sh*t on in one felt swoop.

Rey is Joe Dirt in space, and who gives a sh*t how Snoke rose up as One of the most powerful Sith Lords because he died a very crappy and non-suspenseful death. Meanwhile Luke is too busy being a p*ssy to come out of hiding and die of the same illness that took his mother.......Nothing. Not a damn thing.

I wanted to like this movie and I’m a huge Star Wars fan, but damn. Just damn. They even made Poe look like a punk arse bitch, and I liked him.

Just got out.

I'm surprised to say this...

But

...I didn't like it.

Felt I was watching a Star Wars parody.

I groaned aloud many times at the attempts at humor.

How and the hell do a half dozen red storm troopers put up that much of a fight against Rey and Kylo?

The Rose/Finn love story? Yuck.

I can't see how anyone would ever want to re-watch this.

I can't believe I left disappointed in a Star Wars film. The humor was completely out of character when looking at the saga as a whole. It fit a Marvel film not Star Wars. It’s almost as if they took all of the worst jokes in The Force Awakens and multiplied by 100.

Poe’s taunting of Hux with mama jokes really left a bad taste in my mouth. Luke tossing his father’s saber over a cliff should have been a serious moment. Instead, it was played for laughs.

I fricking LOVED this movie

It moves the franchise forward so we can finally get away from the original cast.

I ended up leaving happy but the first part of the movie truly felt like a Star Wars parody. The Poe/Hux exchange, Leia pulling herself back into the ship, Luke throwing the saber over his shoulder. The entire casino sequence was horrendous, could have been straight out of the prequels.

That said, I think it was starting with the scene where Rey reaches towards the 'mirror' that things really locked in for me, and I was thoroughly entertained all the way through the end (with the exception of Finn). Looking forward to rewatching it with a better knowledge of the films pace to see if that changes anything.

So just got out, and yeah, big change from what I was expecting. Mark Hamill returns triumphantly as Luke Skywalker. Daisy Ridley is great again, and she’s definitely going to be a star. And I still haven’t seen Girls, so Adam Driver was still enticing in the role and I’m interested to see where they take the character.

And the twists were great. Definitely didn’t see Snoke dying at this stage coming. And when Luke was facing off against the First Order was the shite.

But the movie was a bit too long, and try to follow me here, but I have an ingenious solution on how to shorten it: REMOVE ALL SCENES CONTAINING FINN, ROSE, AND BB-8! They were just awful pure filler that had nothing to do with the plot. It wasn’t cute or funny. It was just annoying when all I wanted to do was get back to Rey, Luke, and Kylo. Reminds me of the whiplash effect the gargoyles from Hunchback had on an otherwise masterful film. Can’t wait to see the Non-Finn cut of this movie.

Movie was absolutely phenomenal and the second half was jaw dropping. It is the first non OT movie that understood the force. It was the first non OT movie that truly felt like Star Wars. Didn’t try to calculate the Star Wars “feel.” There was no forced nostalgia. Was perfect was to let go of the OT and st up the finally. Just incredible.

Only gripe was the silly stuff and cheesy comedy. Was stupid.

I'm still in the overall positive camp but I just can't get over how bad the Luke shoulder toss moment is.

That moment culminates what supposedly was an epic journey to find where the legendary Luke Skywalker has gone into hiding. Rey hands him a weapon he has not seen since his then newly-discovered dad cut his hand off and left him for dead. So the payoff is a cheap gag where he throws it away for laughs as if it has cooties? The tone throughout the first hour was so ham fisted. Take a hatchet to that 2:30 runtime and you've got a much more consistently fun film.

My review:

8/10

Short summary: Finn is a useless, flat character. His, Rose, and Poe’s plan is utterly pointless and actually leads to the death of most of the resistance yet they are too stupid to realize it. Their entire line of hijinks post the first scene was totally unnecessary to the story. Finn should had died redeeming himself from his retarded plan leading to the death of thousands by realizing his guilt and flying into the laser. But NO, his stupidity is outdone by Roses’ who determines that in order to save the man she loves she must commit attempted murder and top it off by dying like she was in a high school play. And THEN Finn left her there to die (WTF) while some random red shirt drug her body in to save her (iirc).

Rey (HOT) and Luke were fantastic. Ben Solo was great as well. It’s obvious Rey is just Anakin reborn, the reincarnation of the chosen ala Aang from the last Air Bender.

Ben Solo, though great, has done nothing by get his arse kicked by Rey and outsmarted over the course of less than a week and we’re supposed to fear him in Ep 9, LULZ.

Snoke was a waste and went out like a bitch.

Great movie though.

8/10

I read through the (much shorter) non-miserable thread, and had to laugh.

"I loved it, but Snoke tho?"

"Best Star Wars ever, except how they did Luke"

"Wow, Luke death was super impressive, but Leia floating through space?"

"The battles were the best ever, but those laws of physics?"

They want to love it so bad, but down deep know it sucked the life out of the franchise. No Skywalker going forward (because we know Leia is actually dead). Snoke rose to unattainable power with no backstory. Rey with no backstory, while receiving no training, but becomes a better fighter than Obi-Wan, Yoda, Dooku, Emperor, Mace, Anakin, Maul, Qui-Gon, Luke? You don't leave pumped, just view it as not believable

I really enjoyed it.

Kylo Ren does what not many would think he'd do and kills Snoke. Making him (Kylo) the "supreme leader." Only he doesn't know as much as he thinks he knows.

That's evident at the showdown with Luke at the end. If he was so "in touch" with the Force, he would've seen that for what it was. Luke knew more and it was a blow to Kylo's want to be evil. Basically, he understood that there were things he did not know, even though in his mind, he was the "supreme leader" now that he killed Snoke. Which is what he wanted. To be like Vader. Only he won't, I wouldn't think, admit that he still has to learn things. Just my guess.

I liked Rey in it, I thought Luke was great. Just wish Luke would've stayed but he has to return like Obi Wan did, her training isn't complete.

Likewise, I don't think Snoke is out of the picture either. That was too easy. But it was entertaining.

And those Praetorian guards are badass.

I really enjoyed it. 4 out of 5 stars.

Plot makes no sense. This is such a convoluted and choppy piece of crap. Let's do this, oh and this, don't forget about that too! Let's add it all in. Let's add characters in who make no sense! Kill them off! 18 hours we are going to chase this ship instead of hyperspacing a ship from somewhere else in the galaxy to get in front of them....and the whole Snoke thing is undeveloped.

Everything is so under-developed. It's like the damn Harry Potter movies, trying to stuff so much in, and failing. They have no idea what they are doing. A few beat scenes, but forgettable.

Let's take stuff from the old movies...

Hoth like planet, check!
Millennium Falcon swoops in to save things, check!
Training on a remote planet, check!

And the worst part: it's such a SJW lovefest of a new trilogy, that no reviewers are willing to come out and say how "meh" it is

Just got out.

First 30 minutes or so of the film was absolutely awful. Worst segment in the series’ history. From Poe’s crank phone call, to Leia getting sucked into space and then rocketing across actual physical space to safety with no long term repurcussions. It was awful.

However, the third act as was fun. I really enjoyed from after when Finn left the casino place to the end.

I kind of wanted Luke to be dead from Kylo the whole time and it was his ghost they were seeing. Thought that would have been a cool twist.
