Warning: this thread contains spoilers about Star Wars Episode 8 The Last Jedi.

Positives:
Supreme Leader Kylo as he kills Snoke after Snoke tortured Rey for the location of Luke. Snoke orders Kylo to kill Rey but he uses the force to ignite Rey’s saber cutting Snoke down. They fight off the guard together and Rey flees after refusing to join Kylo.
Comedic Hux was surprising.
Rose is a nice addition.

Negatives:
Luke is dead. He force projects his likeness to distract Kylo on Krayt so the 6 or so remaining Resistance members can flea. He disappears into the force like Obi-Wan and Yoda. He literally never leaves Ach To. Basically he wanted to kill Kylo as a child as didn’t. Kylo knew this and never trusted Luke so he turned to the dark side. He burns down the force tree and the Jedi text. Here is where we see Yoda, not Obi-Wan, not Anakin, fricken Yoda.
Rey is a nobody. Her parents are alcoholic junkers who just left her on Jakku. She is the light that is rising to meet the dark but she does nothing spectacular.
Haldo dies.
Leia lives, she is blasted into space but protects herself with the force.
Poe is a rebel within the Resistance hence why he is on the “dark side” of the poster.
Phasma is dead.

They assassinated Luke's character so much in this movie. He defeated 2 of the most powerful force users in the galaxy 2v1 and saved the galaxy, but Pussies out when his nepHew shows signs of the dark side. And then they kill him off like a little bitch.

Huge build up and mystique for Snoke and that’s it? That’s a joke. Was hoping for something bigger with him.

Ep 9 seems pretty empty at the moment.

This is why I said in the non spoiler thread Mark Hamill is right to fundamentally disagree with everything Rian wrote for Luke. Complete joke.

Episode IX will be the “Reylo” story.

Hamill has publicly said that he wished they used George’s story line for Luke. Maybe one day they’ll actually tell what that was.

What's crazy to me is that theses reviews are all so great, but if all the plot points are true, how? I can't see myself not being super disappointed if it actually goes like this.

You’ll be super disappointed.

You are not alone, I am too. My favorite cinematic hero went out like a bitch and the Skywalker lineage is done. Mind blowing decision by Disney/LucasFilm/Rian. Don’t give me that Kylo is a Skywalker shite either.

Yeah, this movie does nothing to move the Skywalker story along

Snoke is a historic nobody, and now dead

Han is dead

Luke is now dead

And the only original Skywalker that survived (because she was female) is dead in real life. Which makes her story a non-starter going forward

Rey is a nobody, but because we are in a SJW phase in history, a female is replacing the Skywalker clan (on which 8 movies have been based)

And Kylo survives, but wants no part of the Skywalker legacy. Ep 9 will have to focus on him accepting his role in the family clan, or they will have killed off the franchise

Exactly. Yoda and Obi Wan both were 100% convinced Vader/Anakin could never come back to the light, yet super optimistic Luke believed and actually did it.

Just a god damn AWFUL direction to take with the most iconic hero in the entire franchise. It does not make any sense whatsoever.

I hate the direction they took Rey also. The whole bit in TFA with how the Skywalker lightsaber was attracted to her, what was her lineage to explain her strength in the Force etc. Just an incredibly dumb path to take as well imo.

Say what you want about The Force Awakens but JJ Abrams set everything up for The Last Jedi to be the best Star Wars film since Empire Strikes Back imho.

Also, I like that Yoda is in this but it totally should've been Obi-Wan in this role imo. Force ghost Anakin talking about Kylo's turn to the dark side would've worked well too.

I read that Variety review that was scathing and it said that basically anyone worth a damn in this movie is a woman. The resistance, the leaders, etc.

Some were calling it not a reboot of Empire Strikes Back but a reboot of the new Ghostbusters in the Star Wars Universe.

All the guys puss out and the women continue to fight?

True?

This whole storytelling kind if sucks. The reception should have been huge and in charge and the new order being the rebels fighting for their goals.
They had so much in front if them. They should have had jedi's and the main characters should be treated like Mandela/pope/Dali Lama.
Instead the heroes if thirty years ago......are still...rebels.

I mean I like the movies but they didn't need to erase the original trilogy, Luke needed to die old and Happy.
frick. This honestly is just dumb.

They went out of their way to destroy everything Lucas created. I was ok with Porgs because toys, I was ok with Rey and Phasma because it appeases the SJW culture and they still could have been bad asses. Han dying was OK because it’s what Harrison wanted... but for Luke Skywalker, who resisted Darth Vader AND Darth Sidious whilst turning Darth Vader back to Anakin Skywalker and the light, to develop into what TLJ depicts him as is a slap in the face to fans of the OT.

A total waste of Snoke. I saw a discussion that Kylo killing Snoke demonstrates how powerful Kylo has become. I disagree.

It sounds like Rian Johnson may have shite the bed badly. And now a potentially equally shitty movie has to be made to undo some of this. The prequel trilogy may end up being better afterall.
