re: How do liberals want Trump to react to the lies by the MSM?

quote:Well, it's an interesting question with many caveats.
do you believe the MSM goes after Trump as hard as they do if he didn't react the way he does?
I don't think he would have been elected if he didn't fight back like he does.
That aside, yes, I do think they still would.

I don't understand why Republicans think that if they appease the MSM, they'll be treated fairly.
The fallacy in all of this is that you either just have to take it or you have to react like Trump.
I'm all for defending yourself against false stories and lies, but if you truly want them to stop, there are better ways to do it IMO
But I don't believe Trump wants them to stop. He feeds off of it too much.

quote:who knows, Obama never received one iota of opposition from the press...which is why you have trump, and which is why trump supporters like it when he gives them the bidnass.
I wonder what position Trump supporters would take?
better question, if the press wasn't an arm of the DNC and reported accurately, timely and without agenda...would trump supporters like it if he went HAM on them? probably not
trump is the product of decades of media bullshite, then they went even past my most cynical view of them because trump triggers them so badly.

Y'all blame way too much stuff on the media.
Trump isn't a product of the media bullshite. Trump is the product of the "us vs them" mentality. Does the media play a part in that? Absolutely. But they only do it because we as a society feed off of that.
Trump played on that and thus became POTUS.

There may be better ways to go about it, but his method might be the most effective. Does he get off on it? Sure.
The most valuable aspect of his method is that he forces these alleged "purveyors of truth" to expose what they've really been doing for decades - shilling for a certain political ideology. And the best part is that they're doing it themselves. The even better part is that they're doing it themselves, denying it (because they're too blind or arrogant to see it), then telling everyone that no one is allowed to criticize them. It's a pretty smart approach. Let them hang themselves.

Every politician is a result of that mentality. It's not unique to Trump.

No. The media just reflects society.

Trump played it better and harder than anybody.
You know that.

is it not the most important factor in that equation that they report things that are not true?
the problem isn't that they lie, it's that for too long, they got away with it...so yeah, they did create trump.
identify the part of this scenario that isn't ideal
media reports false info, trump says it's false and should be fired, calls them fake news.
for me, it's the part where they reported, yet AGAIN, false information.

quote:He's the President. They are not. I hold the most powerful person (arguably) in the world to a different standard than an infotainment anchor or non-name celebrity.
So the same people that attack him on everything are considering his human dignity as well? I don't think so, bud.
The only other powerful entity/country/institution outside of the media that has called out Trump without human dignity is North Korea.
Plus, it's hard to feel sorry for Trump getting blasted by the media when he has tweeted provable lies, like that he denied the offer to be Time's Person of the Year, that his inauguration crowd was as big as Obama's, or that he received more electoral votes than anyone else in history. These are provable lies.
And what about him constantly bringing up Hillary when he seeks attention? She is not even in political office. She has no relevance whatsoever to his job as President. He simply mentions her name to rile up his base of support.
Trump is far from a victim. He is the single most powerful, or at least one of the most powerful people, in the world. If he keeps tweeting the way he does, most of the world will continue to label him an embarrassment of a President. It's all in his (tiny) hands.

Yes but that is a different point than the media creating Trump

None of it is ideal

Really? So it’s not ideal to say a lie is a lie and call the liar a liar?
Even if it’s not, the part that grabs my attention is the media...lying...to advance a political agenda. I can’t I read the Wikileaks emails. Our press that cries about the first amendment is a propaganda arm of the DNC

Yes but that is a different point than the media creating Trump

The biggest is subjective...then there’s also reporting opinion as fact and reporting unsubstantiated claims as fact (trump said the access Hollywood rape isn’t real)
Then there’s mischaracterization and lying by omission
You can sit there and claim they’re not lies, just mistakes, but when trump does it, they don’t claim it’s a mistake, that same media calls it a lie
You have no problem with all of the fake news, don’t see the obvious intent to mislead, you do you, but don’t sit there in shock and bewilderment when people don’t give a shite what they have to say about anything.

I’m glad he is different. He plays the game the way it should be played. Repubs and dems aren’t used to this type of personality, and it’s.
Except he's a billionaire, former Democrat, Manhattanite that lives a life of extreme privilege. He is arguably more privileged than most of Washington. How that makes him a man of the people is beyond me. What has he done for the middle class so far during his Presidency? How many taxpayer dollars has he wasted playing golf at his resorts? How many common people has he appointed to positions of power?
