I’m powering through the all the HP films because I’m headed to universal with my GF and her parents for Christmas. She’s all about Harry Potter and I asked this question, and she didn’t have much of a answer.

If the students can’t use magic in front of normal people, what’s the point?

To enslave house elves even though they could do all their work with one flick of the wand

this. It is a valid question though. The only jobs you see in the movie is either teacher, shop owner, writer for newspaper or working for ministry of magic

I assume there's more than just one Diagon Alley type situation.

To be able to cook, clean, wash clothes, build things, fly, insta-travel, and the sort. Plenty of places you can perform magic.

Underage wizards can’t use magic in front of people if I remember.

Once adults they can and do. Presumably because they know how to cover it up after the fact.

You can work for a bank like Bill, go work with Dragons or magical creatures like Charlie or go be an entrepreneur like Fred and George.

There's tons of different shite in Diagon Alley. Go write books or make robes. There's all kinds of shite you can do

When I read the books it seemed to me like almost everyone worked for the Ministry. Sort of like the USSR. Knowing the author is a prog, that's probably by design since she thinks that's ideal.

Not to mention that everyone that worked at the most pure capatilistic place, the bank, were miserable, beady eyed goblins (aka thinly veiled Jews).

Working for the ministry seemed to be the main goal to happiness and prosperity, like being in the Politburo

I haven’t read the books so this is probably a common question.

What happens in the real world while the kids are at Hogwarts? All these kids go missing suddenly. When they return to the real world, they haven’t gone to normal school, or do they?

It is no different than going to boarding school.

Also they can pursue any job on the planet after Hogwarts. Just like we do after high school.

They are not being prepared for life with normal people. They live in a world almost completely separate from normal people and only tangentially touching it. They can use all the magic they want in their own world.

But they don’t even have high school diplomas from a recognized school? Or maybe they use magic for that issue.

The irony being that harry’s Revolution should be a pretty anti-government one.

"Bitcoin-a-neeum "

Boom, 10,000 BTC.

Seriously though, all the magical power in the world and not one of them cures global hunger . fricking arse holes.
