correct. And in some districts the low income kids get breakfast too

All year round too. Parent(s) not even responsible enough to feed their own spawn.

Now THAT is a crappy upbringing! Attending school out of hunger and to get away from the govt housing for a few hours. Every part of the lowest rung of Maslow's Hierarchy having to be supplied by govt as the adult will not provide it.

I've been in the School cafeteria during lunch. Kids have to take a protein and 3 vegetables. If not the lunch lady makes them go back and get it. A lot of kids eat 1 thing off there plate, pick a thing or two, then throw the rest away. Whole apples, banannas, bread rolls..... nothing wrong with it, they theowing it away because they were forced to take it.

Maybe some actual physical exercise to burn off some of that sugar might help

Things like WHOLE milk and food prepared using salt are back!

I don't know the details but I'm assuming there's more to it than this. Are things like corn syrup laden chocolate milk and honey buns also coming back? If so then this is not a good thing. Eating habits start young. If kids get to regularly eat things like soda and chips for lunch you are likely contributing to the obesity problem in this country for the next 60ish years.

Has anyone seen these healthy meals? I haven't.

My kids' school dishes out whole packs of donuts and chicken nuggets are constantly on the menu.

It's like a diabetes factory there.

Spot on

The lesser half of conservatives (Trump's cult followers) have no intentions of putting any thought into smaller issues such as the Obama School lunch program. They know the Obamas created it, so they hate it. That is as deep as their thought process goes with 90% of political issues.

I don't support the lunch program, but I have valid reasons, as my previous post indicates.

Sad that this is even an issue. If you're too poor to feed your own kids, then you shouldn't be having any

Agreed, but how do you plan on enforcing this?

Obesity is connected to an increased risk for heart disease and early mortality. That's a medical fact.

No. If you're obese, your diet is likely shite or you have a sedentary lifestyle. Cut out the junk and go for a run.

Physical exercise is probably considered discriminatory since some kids are better than others at sports. Welcome to 2017

There’s no reasoning with anyone who worships at the Trump alter.

Better talking to a wall

The wall is probably more intelligent as well

Look, I am not an Obama fan, but I could never understand why trying to make school lunches healthy was somehow controversial.

Did Michelle Obama's plan really take away whole milk? Because that's not making children obese.

Kids are not getting fat off of school lunch. And it is not a healthy v unhealthy choice. It is possible for food to be healthy and acceptable to kids. Michelle's plan has very little white anything - rice, potatoes, bread, noodles. If I was more paranoid I would say it was racist.

yup.

So basically you have 99.9% of kids throwing away that nasty skim milk unopened.

Could you tell me when this picture was taken?
Could you tell me the school it was taken at?
Could you show me a comparison of the food at this school before the Obama lunch program was enacted? (Assuming this photo accurately portrays a poorly made meal at a public school as the result of the new federal policy)
Could you confirm that every sandwich at this school was made this poorly and this wasn't a defect?

The answer to all of these questions is that you cant.

So this get this bullshite out of here and stop arguing like a child.

So in your opinion the country was better off as a whole the last 8 years prior to Trump?

Whole milk is what's best for growing children. Necessary fats, protein, and not a lot of sugar.

Whoever did the research for her doesn't know what they were doing.
