If they banned whole milk, then that’s a good example.

Low fat foods lead to weight gain.

Our bodies are primed to feel full when we consume fats. With low fat foods that doesn’t happen as quickly, and we end up consuming more calories.

Lol such a libtard thing to say. "I'm not responsible for my actions."

There's some genetics behind obesity but plenty of choices too. A healthy lifestyle and diet can keep anyone's unhealthy genetics in check.

Be a man. Admit you're a fatass.

Exactly

School lunch portions do not allow for kids to be obese.
It’s not like they fix their own plates & go back for seconds.

It’s the responsibility of parents to fed their kids healthy meals & make them do physical activity.

As long as low income families can buy nothing but junk food on SNAP cards it will continue to be a problem.

I was behind some trash in line the other day trying to buy 3 Starbucks coffee drinks & beef jerky but the funds weren’t released yet on the SNAP card.
Those Starbucks drinks were 3.99 each.

That is bullshite.

People don't want to admit it, but genetics do play a big role.

Some kids will grow up with husky builds. They will be more prone to being obese if they make poor dietary decisions and don't get adequate exercise.

Amazing at how this went from school lunch to "I hate republicans". I am a registered democrat. But the party left me behind long ago. Went from the party of the working man to the party of non-working man and from the party of noble goals to the party of knowing better than I do of what is good for me. Makes me sad that people are so indoctrinated against their own interests

This really isn’t a partisan issue. People with a wide range of political leanings involved with nutrition and health at EBR Public Schools agree that the Obama nutrition regulations needed to be fixed. All agreed that the nutritional value of the food that was being served prior to the healthy regs could be improved. The problem was, in hindsight, that the regulations should have probably been phased in so the kids gradually adjusted their taste to different foods. When they’re used to salty and sweet junk, food with out sugar and salt is going to taste even worse than it already does. As a result you had kids not eating, which for many was worse than eating salty and sugary food.

There was nothing wrong with what Michelle Obama intended to do. The execution was just too quick.

It absolutely matters what you eat. You think 2,000 calories of donuts and candy is the same as 2,000 calories of lean protein and vegetables?

This thread is a great microcosm into why the Deep South is so obese. Incredibly uneducated people on nutrition rejoicing because kids are going to be eating better tasting food now instead of healthy food.

Look, I am not an Obama fan, but I could never understand why trying to make school lunches healthy was somehow controversial.

I don't think any reasonable people are against healthier options for their kids but some schools couldn't do healthy food that tasted good. I'd rather my kid have a school portion (generally small to medium) of unhealthy food than to go all day without eating.

Our school (semi public) took a funding hit over it. This year we got a new cafeteria manager and the kids are loving it.

I've already stated that better tasting food is in fact healthier and most of weight is caused by genetics

Woah, a presidents children in an uppity private school were eating better than kids in public schools? STOP THE PRESSES!

I'm sure the Trump would never advocate his children living a more lavished lifestyle than the average American kid
