He was very critical of himself and Paul. Called a lot of Pauls songs granny songs toward the end.

He hated "and your bird can sing" and "run for your life" as well. He was just very critical of himself IMO. Self conscious might be a better term.

JL hated "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" so much he actually refused to play on it. I believe that was a unique occurrence.

There were a few more, like "Teddy Boy" that he basically sabotaged and wouldn't record seriously.

Obla di they did something like 100 takes of and he hated it the whole time.

FWIW the phrase "I'd rather see you dead little girl, than to be with another man" comes from Elvis' "Baby Let's Play House" (1954)

Kind of a John trademark. Opening line of come together from chuck berry. He had a crazy writing style

Dude is the human version of Grumpy Cat. It's easier to list the shite he doesn't hate.

Heart's All I Want To Do Is Make Love To You

quote:

In the liner notes of Heart's album The Road Home, Ann Wilson commented on the band's dislike for the song, stating, "Actually we had sworn off it because it kind of stood for everything we wanted to get away from. It was a song by "Mutt" Lange, who we liked, and it was originally written for Don Henley, but there was a lot of pressure on us to do the song at the time."[4] Ann Wilson has made a number of comments on her dislike for the song, calling the song's message "hideous" in an interview with Dan Rather.[5]

I always read or saw in interviews that although they had a second huge stage to their career in the late 80's/early 90's, they hated how the record company changed their style of music and wanted them to exaggerate the Wilson sisters' female "assets".

Well then, he should have written more of them instead of just putting his name on them.

I've heard Simple Minds hated Don't You Forget About Me.

Funny considering they only got the song after other people passed on it. They had a good career but it is the song they are known for in the US.

Why would he cover a song he didn't like?

I don't know about hate.... but (if my memory serves me correct) the Stones did not play Satisfaction in concert from '71 on until the '81 tour - with the exception of a couple of times in '72 to pair it with Stevie's "Uptight" which was fantastic (Wonder was he opening act on the '72 American tour). Granted, Mick and Keith don't own the rights to any song they wrote prior to '70.

Randy Meisner was one of "Take it to the Limit" writers and dreaded performing it because of the stunt vocals he had to pull off at the end.

I love a lot of his Eagles sung songs: Is It True, Try And Love Again, Tryin.

His backing vocals are one of the things that makes Rick Nelson's 'Live At The Troubadour 1969' great

It always rankled me that REM generally refused to play "Radio Free Europe" live after a certain period in their career. I saw them 4 times back in the day and they never played that song at any of those shows. That was 1. the song that got me into them, 2. my favorite song by them and 3. the song I generally consider to be my favorite of all time.

I've never loved any music the way I loved REM's music back in the 80s but they always said and did a lot of things that would give me a WTF face.

Kings of Leon hates Sex on Fire and their other radio hits. They talk about how they heard the most corny, empty pop songs come on the radio and then their song came on the same station right after and it crushed them
