They actually believed they were getting Gruden and are now throwing a hissy fit because it didn't happen. It's pretty obvious that they for some reason believe they are still a top tier program and don't realize that coaches don't want to coach there because they basically have to recruit nationally. Tennessee is one of the worst states in general for football talent and now they're surrounded by programs that are better than they were when Tennessee was good. The recruits are going there instead and it's shrinking their recruiting base even more. Hence the downturn of their program.
Why would top notch coaches want to come fight Clemson, Georgia, Alabama, LSU, South Carolina and even Virgina Tech and Ohio State to a degree over recruits because they have to leave their state to find talent. All of those other schools have better talent in state and Tennessee has to go into their state and find players.
Back when those schools weren't winning it was a lot easier, now pretty much all of those schools are trending up and it's showing for the Vols. They're in a terrible location for recruiting and coaches don't want to deal with that shite. They literally have no recruiting advantages right now.

Doreon had back to back MAC championships at NIU, then has NC state as a decent program with a winning record every year.
Who does your dad think you are worthy of? Yall already reneged on a contract to a coach due to pissed off fans. He should be happy a coach with a pulse even wants the job
