re: Would Les have eventually built another 2011 type roster?

At the time Les was let go, I felt good about it being time for a change. But the two time fiasco of a coaching search and the way this season has unfolded, along with the Canada - O rift or whatever it is, has me worried.
Alleva obviously doesn’t have the fortitude or expertise to not be influenced when hiring / firing coaches and just make the smart move.
In retrospect, if Alleva knew he could not make the homerun hire, the football program would have been better off with the admin giving CLM all the support and resources he needed.

Agreed after the screw up in 15, Alleva should have never been allowed to hire the next coach.
I'm sure he thought he could make the homerun hire so I'm not upset with the firing just mad at the hiring

He was responsible for 5 offensive linemen leaving anywhere from 3 months to 10 months after he was fired, and for 3-4 defensive linemen getting suspended, injured, or ejected from a game 12 months after he was fired?
Mainly I was talking about the Dline, he recruiting 4 DT from 14-16. Hence the Lack of depth. I assumed you meant DL when you talked about handling Alabama.

So Les is responsible for all the linemen that just up and left the program this year?

Most coaches (though not all) peak at some point and decline. I think Miles has peaked and i don’t think he could have gotten to the level again at his age.
Also Saban and Bama were making in roads in recruiting in La even before the 1/9/12 game and subsequent streak. Which makes it even harder.

I didn’t say anything about handling Alabama. I just quoted your post.
Why did your range begin with 2014 when there were 3 DTs on this team from 2013? Your range would have been more of an impact in 2018, which is why a transfer was brought in and obviously Miles didn’t make it far enough to address it.
ETA: And I’m not saying Miles would have ever replicated 2011 or that it wasn’t time for him to go. But some of the stuff that has been repeated enough to become fact, in an attempt to make everything about this season a mulligan for Orgeron, is ridiculous. When Alleva gives a fake interview to repeat some of the same things you can pretty much guarantee it’s bullshite.

People take 2011 for granted. If they win the rematch on 1/9/12, that team is in contention for GOAT CFB team.
This.
Bama has what, 7 straight #1 classes, and they haven't built a team any better than that class. The cohesion and swagger on that team couldn't be recreated even if you had your pick of every recruit out there.

one of college footballs best
Should very clearly just be the best, period. It took players who would go on to be in the GOAT offensive line 4 quarters to get a touchdown while being on the field the entire game.

Bitter, bitter people here
For a number of years those people have told us anyone can win ten games at LSU and almost any coach out there could win big at LSU. In other words, what Les did in his eleven years here was no big deal.
So, O comes along, the perfect coach to prove their point and with the SEC being as bad as it's been in about 20 years he cant beat Alabama, Mississippi State, or fricking lowly Troy.
It's not so much Les as it is their being unable to validate their opinion that any coach could do what he did.
Wait until next year when the excuses over a hard schedule, maybe, start pouring out.

There is a world of difference in being a position recruiter and being a head coach recruits want to play for.

I ask because I’m worried about recruiting...
A lot of people thought we had a championship roster in 2016. Guice and Fournette in the backfield. Harris now a matured QB with all of the physical tools. Experienced WRs with Dural, Durpe and Chark. Arden Key and Beckwith. Adams, Tre White. Young studs in Lawrence and Alexander. And, a home run hire with Aranda.
That 2016 roster had better offensive players. There was Honey Badger which was a 2011 catalyst, but across the board we had great talent. That was not the issue.

Miles' recruiting classes were always highly rated but weren't solid across the board. He'd load up on skill players which helped star rating but left us thin on the lines. Qb was always difficult whether he was recruiting the wrong guys or just never developing them. I'd trade some star power for a more well rounded class- better depth on the lines and better qbs. Less kickers and fullbacks.

Even with fournette injured, Harris getting benched, Miles getting fired, we were still only a handful of breaks/plays from going undefeated. Aside from qb that team was stacked with enough talent to compete for a championship if the offense would have been from this century. That's what got miles canned.

TO be fair with Les in terms of recruitments of QB's
Brandon Harris was recruited extremely hard by a lot of top programs across the country, which included Auburn, Ohio State, Oregon, North Carolina, Alabama, etc
Anthony Jennings looked solid coming out hs he had an incredible offer list as well.
I think Les recruited a lot of talented players at the QB position but the offensive philosophy and the way QB's were developed was extremely poor. Proper development is absolutely vital and makes a world of difference.

Won't really be able to say much about recruiting at all until these kids are signed. LSU could pull some kids others don't expect, or they could fall off the map with a bunch of less talented then we are used to overall players.
No one knows right now, but at least recruiting should be better than it was looking like after the Troy loss.
