I think one of the last things you have to worry about with O is recruiting.

People take 2011 for granted. If they win the rematch on 1/9/12, that team is in contention for GOAT CFB team. The team should still be regarded as one of college footballs best to not win the whole thing.

I think he would've had a chance to build a team similar to 2007. Lots of NFL players and some overachievers that filled out the roster. But I doubt he would've had another 2011 type roster.

Les had no hand in the lines that we have currently that supposedly handled Bama?

ETA: So fricking typical that any fact posted that is positive for Miles is almost immediately downvoted. Bitter, bitter people here

While I don't think Miles would build another 2011 roster, O has a possibility of having a class ranked out the top 10 for the first time in a long time at LSU

He is one of the few coaches to actually prove that he can make multiple runs at the title; unlike so many names being dropped on the Coaching Changes board that just have "potential".

His 2016 roster was studded with talent and top #5 rank, then he ran the abortion of an offense on the field.

Would he have eventually constructed another roster that was so good it would become responsible for the most accomplished regular season in history? Probably not.

Les put together the No. 2 class in 2016 and No. 5 before that.

The effort that some go to to discredit the man is just weird. Give the man the credit he deserves.

Have you seen our class as it currently stands? Orgeron is a great recruiter when he is selling someone else's program. It remains to be seen how good he is when he has to sell himself as the head coach.

no, 2011 was the anomaly for les with all of his own players unlike 2005 thru 2007.

The king of giving Miles zero credit is here.

doesn't matter. He can't develop quarterbacks and he is a terrible gameday coach...

I'm not saying he was bad recruiting at all. In fact I believe we will find out he was the best recruiter other than Saban.

Just saying the 2011 class was almost generational, he hit perfect on some diamonds in the rough included with his normal elite level of recruiting.

I don't know if LSU will see a recruiter like that in some time if ever

We will never be as good as we were from 2010-2012 under the current regime.

We might never be as good as we were in 2011 ever again.

Say what you want about the man, but we are all gonna miss him more and more as time goes by.

define a long time because we finished outside the top 10 in 2012. 247 composite ranking in 2012 has us at 13

Les is responsible for the Lack of depth on both lines. He got the talent, he could recruit but filling needs was a weak spot.

I don't doubt Orgeron's recruiting prowess. But there's a difference between Orgeron getting a kid to come play for Pete Carroll, as opposed to coming to play for him.

He was responsible for 5 offensive linemen leaving anywhere from 3 months to 10 months after he was fired, and for 3-4 defensive linemen getting suspended, injured, or ejected from a game 12 months after he was fired?
