Single, no kids, 35, MBA, 6-figure salary, decent looking, fun personality. He had everything going for him, but couldn’t shake his 17-year addiction to opioids...I think he may have moved on to heroin when it became much cheaper than pills.

He loved reading the Rant, but didn’t post...that I’m aware of anyway.

Was a huge Vols fan.

Terrible way to go, especially on a holiday.

Drugs are the demon. I have a hard time feeling pity for an addict. I’ve dealt with it on a personal level. Sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear that, Goldfinger. I know what you're feeling and I'm sure others here do, too.

Sorry for your loss. They say money does not buy happiness.

But maybe they meant it only buys it briefly. And sometimes it buys enough to shed this mortal coil. Also sorry for the reality check.

I lost my first cousin last night. Same thing, OD. About the same age. His initials are D.A.

Puts a lot into perspective. Sports, money, etc. don't mean a thing when you're addicted and die.

such a shame. too bad for his family.

What percentage of these people are trying heroin and getting hooked vs getting hooked on pain meds?

I was in your shoes a few years ago bro. Lifelong friend died in his recliner holding a rig in his right hand. Was melting Roxie's down in a spoon and shooting them. Died of respiratory depression due to the opiate OD. I was more mad than I was sad when I heard the news. I'm still mad that he did that to himself, left two teenage boys behind.

Prayers sent up brother. I've been in your shoes and have buried several friends who OD'd. Drugs don't discriminate.

There's some scary shite being sold on the streets these days as LEO's are now finding marijuana laced with Fentanyl

Sorry for your loss. As much as this happens these days - and it is worse now than anytime I've known - it is always a shock when another person is lost.

I try and tell the younger guys who are still in college, today's drugs are not what you think. People did not die like this in the 90's, 80's, or 70's when the LSU party scene was more active. Screw it, drug test everyone in college and get them help. Stop this waste of life.
