Today's episode of "Is it still good?"

I bought a brisket from the supermarket last week with the intentions of cooking it for Thanksgiving. I pull it out the fridge and the sell by date says 11/13. There is no way this is still good right? I thought briskets lasted longer than that after purchasing and I am really ticked at myself for letting it go bad

It's been in the fridge uncooked the entire time?
What temp setting do you have on your fridge? cold cold? just cold?
I'll bet it's good. IWCAEI (I Would Cook and Eat It)

It's fine. That sell by date is only on there for retail purposes.

Google "wet aging beef". My dad does this all the time with whole tenderloins and ribeyes. I believe the key is to leave it unopened in the vacuum packaging. It is unbelievable how tender it gets!

It will still be good this time next week and the week after that and probably the week after that. Hell those things are probably 2 months old and frozen solid, another couple weeks ain't gonna hurt nobody.

If kept at the bottom part of your fridge it can still be okay 6-8 weeks past the date.
Aged beef if awesome.
