Bi-Lo

Bi-Lo used to be my go-to grocery store.

But, Publix opened up nearby and it is 100,000 times better than Bi-Lo. Bi-Lo absolutely sucks in comparison.

The WD that closed near my house reopened as a Shopper's Value.

The Winn Dixie by me sucks. Its on par with the Walmart Supercenter with the level of ghetto trashiness and lack of registers open at a time. Hopefully the WD closes down and a Rouse’s opens in its place

No they didn't. I went to two yesterday in Birmingham and Montgomery. Plus there is still one in Auburn.

I went to the Winn Dixie on Carrollton last year and it was gorgeous.

The ones here on the North Shore are nice too.

The Winn Dixie on Burbank in BR is a very nice grocery store....in fact if you didn't know any better you would think it was a Rouses.

It's a shame they couldn't spin off or sell the WD portion of that holding onto its own. If someone managed that brand correctly, I believe there is a place for a well run, well stocked traditional grocery store. Everyone is going after a niche, but few around here seem to be adequately covering the classic grocery store route, ceding it to Wal-Mart. Those that are traditional stores, usually miss heavily in certain areas.

We owned several grocery stores at one point until selling out in mid 90s.
We never could understand why they stuck with the Winn Dixie name. They were in trouble before, especially in the south before reemerging the last 15 yrs ( they were bought out )
Locations are always suspect and seem to cater towards a lower end.
The name sucks....rename it something that says something....
Who knows, maybe the Winn Dixie part of their business is profitable, and the others suck

Publix is one of the nicest standard grocery stores that exist.

Yeah, when i moved to Florida, we had one near us. Nice as hell, and always clean.

New Orleans desperately needs to have more competition move in. Publix, Kroger, anything.
I just recently moved to Richmond, and they had a grocery war in my 9 years away, and it's great. Wegmans, Aldi, Lidl, and Publix has opened a few stores, with more on the way. Even the Kroger's have greatly upped their stores. Now if only I could get liquor in the grocery stores.

I think all of the Winn-Dixie stores in the Baton Rouge area are nice stores. The flood took out Walker and Old Hammond. Lobdell had already closed on its on (in the food desert). It's my go to store as I know where everything is and I can pretty much go in knowing where I am going to be price wise. They beat the hell out of Albertsons, the narrow-aisled Alexanders, and the over-rated and over-hyped Rouses.

I remember when the Winn Dixie on Carrolton in Riverbend was far from wonderful. Yours may be the first report I've ever read of a dumpy store successfully turning their image around.

I've wondered if the Aldi's model of small store, limited choice, fast shop, major savings isn't going to the be store of the future.

Sounds like an opportunity for Kroger to move in and buy cheaply. I don't mind Kroger and when I was in the Memphis area, the deli section was quite good. Actually overall, their selection was real good....very few things you could not find

You could go to a kiosk , use a touch pad and order your deli meats, go do your other shopping and then pick it up on the way out.

I'm not a big fan of online grocery shopping...especially for fresh stuff and meats.

eeeehhhh....they are OK. The one on 59 and I12 does good business, but they could use revamping some along with the one on the East Causeway approach.

Actually, when I get ambition, I rather go to Acquistapace in Covington. They really have the best selection of meats
