Officially.

They said Mullen and Sexton have let Currie know that he is very interested in Tennessee. Also, Currie is planning on announcing Tennessee's hire next Monday.

Why would you set an announcement date before deciding?

Currie has been completely incognito during this entire search but the one name Volquest has been talking about since the start is Mullen.

Many believe Currie already has his guy lined up.

Just hope sexton doesnt dupe currie with crap add-ons. If he wants it then there needs to be a set of expectations from mullen to keep his job too. We have to stop coaches agents from putting schools in bad spots

Would be an interesting get. I would like Steele as DC too, but if the malzahn to arky stuff happens Auburn would be dumb not to put Steele in place. Give him a few yrs, and heck maybe go after campbell if he continues to so well, and his buyout is less.

Is Mullin stuck with/to his current staff at msu though, and any thoughts on them?

Mullen is a great fit hire for UT, imo. Shoop, Steele and Grantham are all solid DCs. Mullen could hold the recruiting class together pretty well and enhance it. Guarantano and Mullen are a good match.

I've wondered if Mullen at ATM might be big competition for UT, due in part to ATM perhaps being a bit more reasonable expectations and patience climate. But coaching in the SEC East may be equally appealing to Dan.

I thought Steele was staying at Auburn for the Alabama retirement?

I would like to see what kind of staff Mullen would bring to Tennessee. Getting an elite DC like Steele would be huge but I would feel better if he added a couple of big recruiters as well.

Of course it would be for you. Ha. You cant wait for UT and uf to hire their coaches, so your guy cant use them against neb.

If they already know when the announcement will be made then they've already hired a coach.

Don't know if Mullen will actually interview or not but if so its probably nothing more than an angle for him to do his due diligence for his agent and/or get a raise.

Regardless, this info seems contradictory, tells me that it is either false or we can conclude that Mullen isn't the guy. Probably both.
