Let's start with Dan Mullen, who is firmly on Tennessee’s short-list, multiple sources have told VolQuest.com.

As we’ve noted on the board throughout the last few days, we expect Tennessee to really ramp up its search in the coming days, and the timing to formally talk to Mullen is the earliest for any current head coach currently employed. Mississippi State plays on Thanksgiving, meaning Tennessee could get a face-to-face with Mullen on Friday. This is something we’ll follow very closely over the next few days.

On a related note, multiple recruits that are or have been committed to Tennessee have heard from the staffs at Memphis and Mississippi State over the last week. The recruits we have spoken to have wanted to keep their name out of the limelight pertaining to the contact, but they were led to believe that both Mullen and Mike Norvell were in play to possibly land in Knoxville and wanted to begin forming a relationship just in case. It’s not surprising but certainly interesting with very little time until the early signing period (Dec. 20-22).
