Written and directed by Greta Gerwig. Starring Saoirse Ronan, Laurie Metcalf, Tracy Letts and Lucas Hedges.

Trailer

I just saw it, and I really hope people go support it. Charming coming of age movie. Perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes. 94 on metacritic. Right now I can't think of any performance I've seen this year stronger than Laurie Metcalf's in this. Laurie and Saoirse will almost certainly be getting nominations for their work. Solid performances from the whole cast. Good writing. Go see it.

Just got out of it. Very well done movie, some great acting performances and some well done writing.....but something was missing for me. It's still close to an 8/10, maybe a 7.6-7.8, but I need to rewatch because the ending didn't resonate with me as well as I was expecting it to halfway through the movie. I may have just been expecting too much going into the movie. Still very well done, I just think it was a couple different moves away from being a great movie

i felt similarly, but I mean ultimately the movie is about a mother-daughter relationship so I think that's why.

This was a decent indie film, but it wasn't the amazing 99% RT Score film that we were expecting.

Very by the numbers indie film. The quirky family, the outsider lead, the odd friends...

I think that it's main appeal is that it didn't push the quirkiness too far, which is the usual way that these indie films stumble in the public eye.

I watched this today. It’s hard to explain but very subjective leading to an objective viewpoint. From your protagonist you are lead to assume things that aren’t the case, and she also realizes it. I definitely encourage everyone to watch it. One of the best films of the year.

It’s not great, but stands out amongst a week crop this year. I agree about the 2 actress’ performances.

People need to remember how horrible 2016 was. That’s the worst one I can think of in a while.

I just watched it, thought it was ok, just not my kind of movie I guess. Didn’t like it anywhere near as much as Three Billboards or Wind River.

Agreed - favorite movie of the year for me so far. Still have several more award-nominated films to see (The Shape of Water, Get Out, All the Money in the World, Brawl in Cell Block 99) before I make my Top 5.

I saw it last week and really enjoyed it. Nice coming of age film with a few very comical lines/scenes.

I saw it today and while it was a nice film, it seemed a bit forgettable. I think it really just tugs people over their nostalgia for their high school experiences more so than being some special movie. It was worth a watch, but I can't see myself wanting to see it again. However, Metcalf was outstanding in her role, certainly worthy of a supporting actress nomination.
