What a dummy.
Yeah wonder is this “Scientist from NASA” realizes his heart is a muscle too.
Cardiomegally will be exciting.

I was wondering the same.
If he successfully suppresses/removes the myostatin gene, what will stop his body from runaway muscle creation? I'm sure with every attempt at removing a specific gene, it will invariably create a negative side-effect by doing so; similar to taking a drug to combat a current ailment, the list of potential side-effects is long.

Cell replication.
Remove the errors and you're immortal.
Shortening telomeres are why you age and telomeres shorten as a result of continued replication. I am uncertain that gene manipulation can correct that.

Genes are there for a reason. Not a good idea to try to outsmart science, it will troll the frick out of you.

Looks like he kept the dick sucking gene.

everything you need to know about dna is right there in this video clip

You get that dude when you press "random" in a video game's Create-A-Character mode.

I would like calves the size of Keiland Williams.

I'd make it to where I only needed 6 hours of sleep

Nothing is stopping it. They’re portraying him as intelligent, which is sure he is when it comes to whatever got him at NASA but he’s obviously a dumbass in physiology.
Unless there’s more to this gene editing than the article says there is( which I’m 99% positive there isn’t in this context) he’s going to kill himself.
What he’s messing with is so much more complex than simply the level of one single Protein.

Last I heard, theory was that if we can turn on a form of Telomerase that other species have, we may be able to slow/prevent the telomere shortening.
That would be a monumental achievement though. Beyond anything we’ve ever done in human history.

What gene would you alter if you had the choice?
Something to make me better at math and more sensitive to other people's feelings.
But I'm on a budget, so let's just work on bigger dick and muscles for now.

This is not true.
Like all things tied to genetics, it's hyperbole and full of empty promises and failed prognostications.
Genetics is the short bus of science.

I wouldn't want to be immortal. 5 or 6 thousand years tops, and I am good.

I heard someone recently say crisper is like Graham Bell's phone is to the Internet. While the technology is in its infancy now, it will be the mechanism with which future generations of humans are built. Especially if you combined the mechanism with the ability of the next generation of computers to analyze data via machine learning, it truly has the potential to change the fabric of human society

Someone working in their garage will come up with some profound discovery that will revolutionize the species on how we treat disease (or prevent them entirely).
Kind like Jobs and Wozniak in the 70s with PCs.
